A new Genshin Impact leak is hinting at one of the game's most highly-anticipated characters becoming playable in the near future, with a new model surfacing for Dainsleif. Throughout the more than four years since the massive release of the HoYoverse RPG, the game has added a plethora of different characters for players to add to their teams. Genshin Impact boasts 99 different characters for fans to pick up, with Version 5.7 adding Skirk and Dahlia to push the game over 100 playable units. Now, one of the RPG's most long-awaited characters may be coming soon.

First appearing during the "Bough Keeper: Dainsleif" quest in Version 1.3, Dainsleif has served as one of the most mysterious NPCs in Genshin Impact. He appears in several Archon Quest Interludes as a major part of the backstory surrounding the Traveler and their sibling, even confirmed to hail from the ancient civilization of Khaenri'ah. Dainsleif was also confirmed to eventually become playable early on in the game's life, though HoYoverse has yet to officially add him to the roster. A new leak now suggests that Dainsleif's playable debut may not be far off.

Genshin Impact Leak Hinting at Dainsleif's Playability

A leak shared to the Genshin Impact leaks subreddit is showing off a new in-game model for Dainsleif found in Version 5.7's files. The leak shows off a new render with the name "Avatar_Male_Sword_Dainsleif_Model" for Dainsleif's in-game appearance, citing that models using that naming convention are typically reserved for playable characters. The model does not feature any major noticeable changes to Dainsleif's design from previous patches, though the file name suggests that Dainsleif will use a Sword as his weapon.

The existence of a new model for Dainsleif could have several implications for his involvement with Genshin Impact's future updates. Pyro Archon Mavuika previously saw a new character model added to the game ahead of her official release, briefly becoming playable during a segment of Natlan's Archon Quest. The leak could also hint that Dainsleif's full playable release is not far off, with Mavuika's story segment added just two patches before her full playable release. Dainsleif's new model is expected to be added to the game during Version 5.7, releasing on June 18.

Dainsleif's potential appearance in Version 5.7 comes as the patch is expected to feature major new story content revolving around Khaenri'ah. The update will add the previously-mentioned Skirk to the playable roster, introduced as a disciple of one of The Five Sinners of Khaenri'ah. The patch is also rumored to give fans their first look at the upcoming Nod-Krai region, with new story content teasing the game's next playable locale. Genshin Impact fans should be in for some exciting updates to the game's main story in the near future.
