Kirara debuts in the Genshin Impact roster as a Dendro Sword user, with her primary focus on summoning potent shields for herself and her allies. Additionally, she possesses the ability to unleash Dendro damage, showcasing a notably high scaling for her Elemental Burst that should not be underestimated. Beyond her combat prowess, Kirara stands out as a truly distinctive character in terms of exploration, as her Elemental Skill's holding function transforms her into an Urgent Neko Parcel, resembling a cat-in-a-box. This unique form grants her enhanced mobility, greatly increasing her movement and climbing speed.
All the aforementioned aspects of Kirara's kit are accessible to players without any constellations. This may lead Genshin Impact players and fans of this nekomata youkai to question whether investing in her constellations is worthwhile. However, it should be noted that her constellations do provide additional value beyond simply increasing the strength of her existing kit, which may be intriguing for some players.
Are Kirara Constellations Worth It In Genshin Impact?
While Kirara is fully playable at C0, it is worth noting that her later constellations introduce interesting gameplay elements, such as increased Dendro application and team-wide Elemental DMG Bonus. Players who are primarily interested in her shielding abilities need not worry about unlocking her constellations. However, those seeking a more well-rounded support character may want to consider investing in her later constellations. It is important to mention that her early constellations do not provide significant added value, so players may need to spend a considerable amount of Primogems. Thankfully, as a 4-star character, her constellations are relatively more accessible over time, as she is not a limited character. Players may choose to gradually acquire her constellations over time instead.
In any case, her fourth and sixth constellations are the most valuable, while the first and second constellations are not as high of a priority for her.
C1 - Material Circulation
- Effect: Every 8,000 Max HP Kirara possesses will cause her to create 1 extra Cat Grass Cardamom when she uses Secret Art: Surprise Dispatch. A maximum of 4 extra can be created this way.
- Importance: Medium
Upon using her Burst, Kirara generates and spreads particles that explode after 12 seconds or upon contact with an ally, dealing a high amount of damage. With this constellation, she will be able to generate even more particles, which can come in handy for additional burst-support functions or additional Dendro application. However, apart from this potential, it doesn't add significant value since the smaller particles' damage do not scale as well as her Burst explosion damage.
C2 - Perfectly Packaged
- Effect: When Kirara is in the Urgent Neko Parcel state of Meow-teor Kick, she will grant other party members she crashes into Critical Transport Shields. The DMG absorption of Critical Transport Shield is 40% of the maximum absorption Meow-teor Kick's normal Shields of Safe Transport are capable of, and will absorb Dendro DMG with 250% effectiveness. Critical Transport Shields last 12s and can be triggered once on each character every 10s.
- Importance: Low
Players who frequently engage in co-op and have previously obtained Baizhu, another shielding Dendro character, may have noticed that Baizhu is unable to provide shields to other team members with his Ultimate ability. In this regard, Kirara's second constellation aims to enable shield generation for co-op team members, albeit in a somewhat convoluted manner, requiring her to crash into them in the area. While this shield allows for additional damage absorption, it is a niche constellation that holds value primarily in co-op and lacks significance in challenging end-game content like the Spiral Abyss. Consequently, it is not as valuable as the other constellations for a versatile gameplay experience.
C4 - Steed of Skanda
- Effect: After active character(s) protected by Shields of Safe Transport or Critical Transport Shields hit opponents with Normal, Charged, or Plunging Attacks, Kirara will perform a coordinated attack with them using Small Cat Grass Cardamoms, dealing 200% of her ATK as Dendro DMG. DMG dealt this way is considered Elemental Burst DMG. This effect can be triggered once every 3.8s. This CD is shared between all party members.
- Importance: Priority
Kirara's fourth constellation adds significant gameplay value to her kit by enabling additional coordinated attacks when the active character on the field has a shield generated by Kirara and performs normal, charged, and plunging attacks. This constellation greatly enhances her role as a Dendro enabler, making her a more viable option for team compositions that prioritize Dendro elemental reactions. It is important to note, however, that unlike characters like Xingqiu or Raiden Shogun who can trigger coordinated attacks with minimal or no internal cooldown (ICD), Kirara's effect has a 3.8-second cooldown, making it slower but still valuable for generating Dendro Cores or triggering spread reactions.
C6 - Countless Sights to See
- Effect: All nearby party members will gain 12% All Elemental DMG Bonus within 15s after Kirara uses her Elemental Skill or Burst.
- Importance: High
Kirara's final constellation provides a straightforward team-wide buff that increases Elemental DMG for the entire team whenever Kirara activates her Skill or Burst. With the long duration of this buff and the relatively short cooldown of her Skill and Burst, Kirara can maintain this buff throughout the entire combat without requiring additional effort. Players aiming to unlock her fourth constellation may also consider obtaining her fifth and sixth constellations to fully unleash her potential as a support character beyond her shielding abilities.
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
