Genshin Impact has officially revealed more details about the upcoming five-star character Kinich, a notable member of the Scions of the Canopy tribe. Kinich is scheduled to arrive in the second part of the ongoing Genshin Impact Version 5.0, which has already introduced two new playable units.
The first part of the update added the five-star Hydro DPS unit Mualani and the four-star Geo user Kachina. Travelers can still obtain either of these characters for a couple more days, as their banner is scheduled to expire on September 17, which is when Kinich is expected to be released.

The official storyline introduces Kinich as a skilled Saurian Hunter known for his mysterious and distant demeanor. He prefers not to be in the main spotlight and would rather observe from the sidelines. As a member of the Scions of the Canopy, Kinich has a natural talent for exploration, hunting, and extreme sports, which is reflected in his kit. As the second part of Genshin Impact Version 5.0 approaches, developer HoYoverse has provided more detailed information about Kinich and his playstyle. According to his official introduction, Kinich is described as a powerful Dendro DMG dealer with high mobility.
Genshin Impact: Kinich's Kit Explained
Normal Attacks allow Kinich to perform up to three rapid strikes in succession. Genshin Impact's new Dendro character has a unique Charged Attack that allows him to use some of his Stamina to spin and throw his claymore forward. Kinich’s Elemental Skill, Canopy Hunter: Riding High, allows him to connect with enemies using a grappling hook and enter the Nightsoul Blessing state, generating Nightsoul points. During this state, Kinich can perform Loop Shots on enemies caught by the hook by using his Normal Attack.
Upon reaching the maximum number of Genshin Impact's Nightsoul points, Kinich can use his Elemental Skill again to consume them and unleash an effect called Scalespiker Cannon, which deals additional Dendro damage to the target. Kinich's Elemental Burst is much simpler, allowing him to summon the Dragonlord Ajaw, who deals Nightsoul AoE Dendro damage to multiple enemies.
While on the field, Ajaw will periodically use his Dragon Breath to deal AoE damage. Kinich will also have a unique switching effect: Swapping to Kinich out of combat will make him fire a grappling hook and swing mid-air. During combat, switching to Kinich will trigger his Elemental Skill. Many fans in the comment section claim that Kinich will likely be one of the most useful Genshin Impact characters for exploration.
