Genshin Impact is making major changes to the Imaginarium Theater in Version 6.0 by introducing two special chambers, increasing the number of rewards that players can obtain, but also raising the entry requirements to a minimum of 28 eligible characters. Introduced in Version 4.7, the Imaginarium Theater has become a pillar of Genshin Impact's endgame. Whereas the Stygian Onslaught favors vertical investment, the Imaginarium Theater rewards those who have a well-built roster of Genshin Impact characters.
Initially, the Imaginarium Theater in Genshin Impact was considered a more casual alternative to the Spiral Abyss. It had eight chambers in total, and required players to select 18 eligible characters in order to make a full clear. While teams were rarely optimal, and Genshin Impact players had no guarantee of drawing their desired character upon finishing a stage, it was part of the Imaginarium Theater's charm and challenge. When Visionary Mode was added, it upped the difficulty further, requiring players to prepare at least 22 eligible characters from their roster.

According to HomDGCat, and as shared by Kuuro from the beta servers, the difficulty ceiling of the Imaginarium Theater is set to increase in Version 6.0 with the addition of Arcanum Acts, two stages that can be completed at any point prior to Act 10. Beta testing has implied that an Arcanum Act will be more difficult than the average Act, but will also allow players to claim 300 Primogems upon first completion, and an additional 200 Primogems every month. However, the downside is that the Imaginarium Theater will now require players to assemble a roster of up to 32 eligible Genshin Impact characters, with a minimum requirement of 28.
There are a few reasons as to why players feel apprehensive about these changes, especially after the release of the Stygian Onslaught in Genshin Impact. Unlike the other two game modes, casual players can easily claim all Primogem rewards in the Stygian Onslaught, while hardcore players can instead attempt a full clear for prestigious rewards such as weapon cosmetics, or Dusts of Enlightenment. By contrast, to claim all Primogem rewards in the Imaginarium Theater, players are asked to provide a level of investment or skill that most do not possess.
This new format of the Imaginarium Theater is set to debut in October 2025, roughly at the same time as Flins in Genshin Impact. If one were to take its featured elements into consideration, players are required to own about 70% of all eligible characters to even attempt the challenge. Players have proposed an increase to Vigor (from 2 to 3) as a possible compromise, or to be able to borrow one additional character from a friend's account, but it remains to be seen if HoYoverse will make any further changes. Version 6.0 is expected to launch on September 10, 2025.
