The Lantern Rite Festival celebrates the Lunar New Year, which is why the event is always hosted in the Liyue region, inspired by Chinese culture. Many Genshin Impact fans expected Hu Tao's skin to be available once Lantern Rite arrives in the second part of the update, but HoYoverse actually released it on January 1.

However, while the skin received mostly positive reviews, some fans noticed an unusual detail about its design. An interesting post on the main Genshin Impact subreddit compared Hu Tao's new skin with Childe's regular outfit, noting that they seem very similar. Fans pointed out that the two outfits share several similarities in both style and design. Both feature a predominantly white color theme with smaller red accents. They also incorporate similar Chinese-inspired patterns, which is not surprising since Hu Tao is from Liyue, and Childe was released during Genshin Impact's Liyue arc. Genshin Impact Fans Highlight Similarities Between Hu Tao's Skin and Childe's Outfit
Even though many fans claim they can't unsee these similarities now, they still don't mind equipping Hu Tao with this new outfit. Moreover, some claim it's a shame that both characters are DPS-focused, making it difficult to use them together in a team composition. However, pairing their elements could still trigger Vaporize, one of the best Elemental Reactions in Genshin Impact.
Players who want to get Hu Tao's new outfit should probably do so during Genshin Impact Version 5.3, as it is available at a discounted price for the duration of the update. Hu Tao is not the only Pyro user receiving a new outfit in this update; HoYoverse's Special Program confirmed that Xiangling will also get a new outfit during the Lantern Rite Festival.
Unlike Hu Tao's outfit, which is only available through the in-game shop, players will be able to obtain Xiangling's new outfit for free. All they will probably need to do is complete a few quests. However, it should be noted that the only opportunity to get this skin for free will be during this year's Genshin Impact Lantern Rite event.
