A new tabletop wargame has arrived in a corner of the Court of Fontaine in Genshin Impact, where members of the Special Security and Surveillance Patrol have set up. During the event, Travelers can select their game pieces and place them in the deployment zones.

When the challenge starts, their piece will lock onto targets based on their own traits. Once all the defending counterparts and installations on the opposing side are destroyed, players are awarded a victory. A total of 11 stages are available in the Operation Downpour Simulation event, and players can find the guide to complete each stage in this article.

Genshin Impact players looking to 100% their exploration in Quahuacan Cliff, can refer to these hidden chests they might've missed.

Stage 1 - Frontline Formation

As this is the first stage of the Operation Downpour Simulation event in Genshin Impact, it is relatively easy. One of the strategies that can be used is:

  1. Place two Hilichurl pieces on the top side.
  2. Place two Samachurl pieces below the right Cryo Whopperflower.

Once the two Samachurls defeat the first Whopperflower, the Hilichurls will arrive at the opening and attack the Wooden Palisades.

Stage 2 - Thrust and Volley Combined

In the second stage, all the paths to the Wooden Palisades are blocked by obstacles. Since the obstacles are made of wood, pieces that can inflict Pyro to burn them are the best option.

  1. Place the two Ruin Guard pieces in the middle.
  2. Place three Hilichurl Grenadier pieces in a row, in between the two Ruin Guards.

The enemies' Hydro Slimes will focus on attacking your Ruin Guards, making it safe for your Hilichurl Grenadiers to burn all the obstacles.

Stage 3 - Siege Strategies

The third stage of Operation Downpour Simulation in Genshin Impact will now offer three types of pieces instead of two, expanding the strategies that can be used.

  1. Place three Cryo Specter pieces right in front of the Cryo Samachurl at the bottom.
  2. Once the Frostarm Lawachurl is defeated, put the Ruin Guard in the middle.
  3. Afterward, position the Electro Samachurl right beside your Ruin Guard.

The enemies' Frostarm Lawachurl can only attack ground game pieces, which practically makes your Cryo Specters invisible. However, that's only for a while, as the next in their defense line are Treasure Hoarder Pyro Potioneers. That's why the Ruin Guard and Electro Samachurl will come in clutch and outnumber the enemies' pieces.

Stage 4 - Studies in Momentum

The opponents in this stage do not like Flying Target pieces, so they have placed Suppression Specialist Mek—Ousia right in the middle of the field. It has huge range and also prioritizes airborne game pieces.

  1. Put an Electro Cicin piece in the middle of the deployment zone (bottom side).
  2. Once the first Cryo Whopperflower is defeated, place one Eroding Avatar of Lava in the previous spot and let it destroy the obstacles.
  3. Once the first line of obstacles is destroyed, deploy two Hilichurl pieces behind the Avatar of Lava.
  4. Finally, after the second line of obstacles is removed, place the remaining pieces on the field so they can help in defeating enemies much faster in Genshin Impact.

Stage 5 - A Tactician's Breastplate

  1. Start by placing two Hilichurl pieces on the bottom side, each piece aiming at a different Suppression Specialist Mek.
  2. After that, put two Cryo Specters on the top side, each piece focusing on different Hydro Slimes.

Shackling Mine will hold some of the Hilichurls for a few seconds, but the remaining ones can still defeat the respective Suppression Specialist Mek.

Stage 6 - To the Trenches

A new piece is introduced in this stage: the Hydro Mimic Finch. Similar to the open world of Genshin Impact, the Hydro Mimic will unleash a shockwave that deals AoE Hydro damage once defeated.

  1. Place one Grenadier piece in the bottom right corner and top left corner.
  2. After the first barrier is destroyed, position Hydro Mimic Finch in the bottom right corner.
  3. After the second barrier is destroyed, place all remaining pieces in the same location.

Stage 7 - Grand Armies

There are enemies guarded by barricades in this stage, and some of those guard the Wooden Palisades. Use long-range pieces to attack those in the barricades, and short-range pieces to focus on the enemies' stronghold.

  1. Place two Ruin Guard pieces in the middle, each targeting the enemies not protected by the barricades.
  2. Immediately afterward, place two Electro Samachurls below the barricade, one on the left and one on the right.
  3. The Hilichurl piece should also be placed on the bottom right side immediately.

Stage 8 - More Firepower, Fewer Casualties

Barriers protect this whole stage, but you will have Hilichurl Grenadier pieces to help with burning all the obstacles.

  1. First, defeat the two Frostarm Lawachurl in the middle by placing one Electro Samachurl piece on each side.
  2. Put Ruin Guard in the bottom lane, so the Treasure Hoarder Pyro Potioneers will focus on attacking this piece.
  3. Afterward, place two Hilichurl Grenadiers on the bottom lane so they will burn down the obstacles.

Stage 9 - Like Mountain Raindrops

Starting on this stage, the difficulty spikes, with the enemy having a stronger plan and good pieces. While there are many enemies that can't attack flying targets, there are Suppression Specialist Mek in the middle that have a large AoE and will strike down a flying target in an instant.

  1. Place the Eroding Avatar of Lava piece on the middle left side, targeting the main Wooden Palisades.
  2. Position a Cryo Specter piece on the top left side so it will attack the Frostarm Lawachurl. Then, another Cryo Specter on the bottom side.
  3. Once the obstacles on the left side are destroyed, place two Hilichurl pieces targeting the Cryo Whopperflower.
  4. After the Suppression Specialist Mek is defeated by Hilichurls, place the remaining pieces to defeat all the enemies and the Wooden Palisades.

Stage 10 - Like Peeling an Onion

  1. Set one Hydro Mimic Finch on the left side, targeting the Treasure Hoarder Pyro Potioneers. Then, place another Hydro Mimic Finch on the opposite side.
  2. Next, position Electro Cicin on the bottom left side, targeting the Wooden Palisades. Put another Electro Cicin piece on the opposite side.
  3. Place a Hydro Mimic Finch on the left side, aiming at the Wooden Palisades. After it's destroyed, it will attack the Cryo Whopperflowers in the middle.
  4. Put the Ruin Guard piece in the middle lane, only after the Hydro Mimic Finch has reached the Whopperflowers (so when it's exploded, all enemies will be hit by the shockwave).
  5. After all enemies are down, distribute the remaining long-range pieces to target the Wooden Palisades.

Stage 11 - Dispersing the Morning Mist

This is the last and hardest stage of the Operation Downpour Simulation event in Genshin Impact. With tight defense and great set-up from the enemies, you need to make sure all your pieces play their role perfectly.

  1. Place one Eroding Avatar of Lava piece on the top and another on the left.
  2. Immediately after, position a Hilichurl Grenadier on the top left, targeting the barricade on top of the Frostarm Lawachurl.
  3. After the obstacle on the top left is destroyed, place a Hydro Mimic Finch targeting the Frostarm Lawachurl. It will then attack the Suppression Specialist Mek on the left side.
  4. Put one Cryo Specter on the bottom left, attacking the Lawachurl, then the Hydro Slime.
  5. Once your Eroding Avatar of Lava is defeated, you can now place another Cryo Specter piece on the bottom right to get rid of the Treasure Hoarder Pyro Potioneer and another Hydro Slime.
  6. If there are still enemies that are not defeated, use the remaining pieces on them.
