Dendro has established itself as a dominant element in Genshin Impact's meta since its introduction with the Sumeru region. While the element boasts powerful characters, particularly for off-field Dendro application, such as Nahida and the recently-released Emilie, the element has lacked a broad selection of main DPS options, with Alhaitham being one of the few notable exceptions. This changes with the arrival of Kinich, the second 5-star character from Natlan, designed to be a Dendro DPS character with a unique mechanic centered around the Nightsoul system in Genshin Impact.
To maximize Kinich's potential, players will need to focus on his build, with special attention to his artifact sets and weapon choices. Fortunately, Kinich offers great versatility in these areas, making him adaptable with a variety of options, especially as players work to optimize their gear from the new artifact sets from Natlan.

As an on-field DPS character, Kinich's primary source of damage comes from his Elemental Skill, which allows him to latch onto an enemy and deal damage while circling around them. During this state, he regenerates Nightsoul points, and once fully charged, he can unleash a powerful shot. Since his kit revolves around the Nightsoul Blessing, a mechanic exclusive to Natlan characters, his best-in-slot artifact set is Obsidian Codex. This set enhances his overall damage while in the Nightsoul Blessing state and boosts his Crit Rate, making it ideal for maximizing the power of his charged shot. However, players who favor a Dendro reaction team can opt for Gilded Dreams, especially if another team member equips Deepwood Memories for Dendro resistance shred. Kinich can also perform well in Burning-focused teams with Unfinished Reverie, or even with Marechaussee Hunter, particularly in teams with Furina. For more general usage, combining 2-piece Deepwood Memories and 2-piece Golden Troupe offers increased Dendro damage and Elemental Skill damage.
When it comes to stats, Kinich's build is fairly straightforward. He scales primarily with ATK, so his ideal artifact setup includes ATK% Sands, Crit Rate/Damage Circlet, and a Dendro DMG Bonus Goblet. In terms of substats, focus on Crit Rate and Crit DMG, followed by ATK% and Energy Recharge to keep his Elemental Burst available for extra Dendro application and off-field damage. In reaction-heavy team comps, Elemental Mastery can also be valuable.
Kinich Best Weapon In Genshin Impact
Kinich has access to a wide range of weapon options, depending on players' resources and investment level. His best choice is undoubtedly his signature weapon, Fang of the Mountain King, which boosts both Elemental Skill and Burst damage. This weapon is easy for Kinich to optimize, as its stacks are maintained by dealing Elemental Skill damage. For teams focusing on Burning or Burgeon, stack generation is even more efficient, though it's not strictly necessary. With a Crit Rate secondary stat, this weapon allows players to focus on Crit DMG when farming artifacts, especially in combination with Obsidian Codex, which helps Kinich reach high Crit Rate levels easily.
For those who don't have his signature, other 5-star options like Beacon of the Reed Sea and Verdict are solid alternatives. Both weapons provide Crit Rate and ATK bonuses, with Verdict giving additional Elemental Skill damage when paired with a Geo character for Crystallize reactions. However, due to its specific team composition requirements, Serpent Spine (R5), a Battle Pass weapon, is often a better 4-star option. It's superior to Talking Stick, another BP weapon, because it offers higher and more consistent performance for Kinich.
For F2P players, the best option is Earth Shaker, a forgeable claymore from Natlan. While its full potential is realized in Burning or Burgeon teams with a Pyro character, luckily it remains viable even without max refinement, considering that it will take a while for players to obtain enough billets to be able to craft copies. 
Wolf's Gravestone is another strong 5-star weapon, easier to obtain due to its presence in the standard banner. Additionally, Ultimate Overlord's Mega Magic Sword is a good F2P choice for players who participated in the Roses and Muskets event during version 4.3.
