Although he's a 4-star character, Illuga is one of the best Geo supports in Genshin Impact. Since there are many other Geo buffers in the game, Illuga excels at buffing his team's Lunar-Crystallize DMG, giving Illuga a niche utility and a unique type of characters he can work with in his Genshin teams.

Illuga Best Team Comps In Genshin Impact
Illuga is a Geo support who can work with almost any Geo DPS in Genshin Impact. Since his Elemental Burst increases the buff Illuga gives to characters that deal Lunar-Crystallize DMG, it's always important to include either Columbina or Zibai in his teams. Here are the best teams for Illuga in Genshin Impact.
- Illuga Best Team: Illuga + Zibai + Columbina + Aino
- Illuga F2P Team: Illuga + Ningguang + Xingqiu + Columbina
Illuga + Zibai + Columbina + Aino
Illuga can operate as a support for one of the best DPS, which is Zibai in Genshin Impact. She and Columbina allow their teams to trigger Lunar-Crystallize instead of the normal Crystallize reactions. This is where Illuga comes in to buff all those reactions on top of Zibai's DMG during combat. Illuga also provides a small Crit Rate and Crit DMG buff that further increases on his sixth Constellation.
As for Columbina, she and Aino provide the off-field Hydro application, enabling the team to trigger as many Lunar-Crystallize reactions as possible. Not to mention, Columbina gives a lot of extra DMG to her Lunar teams. Even Aino gives extra DMG to Lunar reactions in Genshin Impact, especially on her C6.
Since Zibai already unlocks the ability to trigger Lunar-Crystallize reactions, you can replace Columbina with another Hydro character if you don't have her, or she's busy with another team. Characters like Mona, Kokomi, Xingqiu, and Yelan are all decent off-field characters that can take Columbina's place. More importantly, having only Geo and Hydro characters in this Illuga team unlocks the full potential of both Illuga and Zibai's Ascension passive.
The same goes for Zibai. Since Columbina already triggers the Lunar-Crystallize reactions, you can replace Zibai with almost every Geo DPS in Genshin Impact. The best main DPS that can lead this team's DMG are Navia and Arataki Itto. Both can deal high on-field DMG for days without stopping or losing their juice.
Illuga + Ningguang + Xingqiu + Columbina
You can't really build an F2P team around Illuga unless you want to give up the Lunar-Crystallize buff. The main reason behind this is the need for a 5-star unit like Columbina or Zibai that can switch the Crystallize reactions into Lunar-Crystallize ones. So, for the sake of building an F2P team around a 4-star like Illuga, you can use a strong Geo DPS unit like Ningguang, who's a strong on-field Geo enabler in Genshin Impact. Columbina will provide the off-field Hydro application while dealing the Lunar-Crystallize reactions herself as well.
Alongside Ningguang, you can include Xingqiu, who's one of the best off-field Hydro enablers in Genshin Impact. The number of Hydro attacks Xingqiu provides is impressive, to say the least. Not to mention, Xingqiu is a Hydro Sub-DPS that takes care of himself, where he is more than capable of getting his own Elemental Burst back at every rotation. He's also a great Noblesse Oblige user, giving Ningguang a much-needed extra ATK% buff.
In all Illuga teams, he barely takes any field time while providing all his Elemental Burst and stats buff in Genshin Impact.
