Genshin Impact players will be able to obtain a free copy of Kachina in Version 5.0 by completing the second Act of Natlan's Archon Quest. Much like Collei and Lynette in their respective regions, Kachina in Genshin Impact will serve as an introductory character to Natlan's combat and exploration mechanics. She was announced alongside Kinich and Mualani, who will be featured as the 5-Star characters in Version 5.0, with the latter joining Kachina on the Event Banners during the first half of the patch.
Whereas Fontaine previously introduced underwater content to Genshin Impact, Natlan's main exploration gimmick lies in its Saurians, which allow the Traveler to traverse the game's landscape in completely new ways. While it could be argued that this makes Natlan characters optional, there is another mechanic that makes them indispensable to the player: the Nightsoul's Blessing. Much like the Arkhe system in Fontaine, many enemies in Natlan have a weakness that only characters who have Nightsoul can exploit.
Genshin Impact on Xbox Will Fill a Big Void on the Platform
With Genshin Impact finally coming to Xbox later this year, HoYoverse's wildly successful gacha game will fill a big void on Microsoft's platform.
To that end, Kachina will continue a pattern introduced in Version 3.0, and will be available to all Genshin Impact players who complete the first two Acts of Natlan's Archon Quest. Curiously, even reliable sources in the Genshin Impact Leaks community on Reddit struggled to pinpoint if Kachina would be a free character, as HoYoverse used Bennett as a placeholder to ward off any spoilers. While Bennett is a powerful 4-Star character in Genshin Impact, Kachina can hold her own. Her Elemental Skill allows her to scale mountain cliffs during exploration, or deal sustained Geo damage in combat with her Turbo Twirly drill. The uptime on her Elemental Skill can be dramatically increased by reaching her second Constellation, which triggers a Turbo Twirly if there is no drill currently on the field.
Genshin Impact Players Can Obtain Kachina For Free From The Archon Quest
Aside from the starter crew of Amber, Kaeya, and Lisa, the appearance of Kachina marks the first time that players can unlock a character by completing the main storyline. Whereas Collei and Lynette were tied to the Spiral Abyss and Adventure Rank, Kachina will require players to have progressed through the story all the way to Natlan. Given that Kachina is only relevant for Natlan content, it is an understandable compromise. In addition to Kachina, players will also be able to select a free 5-Star character in Genshin Impact for the game's anniversary, albeit one limited to its Standard Banner.
While not explicitly confirmed, it is expected that all Natlan characters in Genshin Impact will have their own spin on the Nightsoul mechanic, as implied with Xilonen's ability kit in Version 5.1. The gates of Natlan will open on August 28, 2024, which will also mark Kachina's debut on the Event Banners.
