A Genshin Impact leak is teasing the general layout of the upcoming region of Fontaine, including multiple references to different locations throughout the region. With Version 4.0 of the HoYoverse RPG expected to arrive in late summer, information about the game's next major locale has already started to surface both from HoYoverse itself and leaks. The developer revealed the first official teaser of Fontaine during Version 3.7's Special Program, highlighting the aquatic nature of the region and hinting at more to come. While HoYoverse has withheld most details about Fontaine, Genshin Impact fans have already begun to learn plenty about the region through in-game lore and leaks. The story of Genshin Impact portrays Fontaine as a technologically-advanced region, filled with rivers and lakes in reference to its status as the Hydro Archon's domain. Characters from the region like Lyney and Lynette have been teased since shortly following the game's launch, with newcomer Charlotte confirmed to be appearing in Version 3.7. Now, fans are getting an idea of the newest region's geographical layout. A new update from well-known Genshin Impact leaker Vississ has revealed more details about the overall layout and structure of Genshin Impact's newest region. Vississ confirms previous rumors that players will first enter Fontaine from Sumeru, arriving in a countryside area similar to Sumeru's Gandharva Ville before going to Fontaine City. Vississ revealed Fontaine City will be positioned north of Vanarana with a large body of water to the northeast, connected to the city by a river. The leak paints Fontaine's western portion as mostly land-based with several mountains, confirming the region will be "relatively large."
The leak from Vississ also features more information about Fontaine City itself, suggesting the city will feature a "mechanical style from the last century." A heavily steampunk-inspired design of Fontaine would align both with past character designs of Fontaine NPCs and leaks about the city itself. A leak from one of Genshin Impact's closed beta tests last year showcases a model of a "steampunk city" that many fans have speculated to be Fontaine City. The region reportedly revolves around a central theme of "justice" while also standing as the most technologically advanced civilization within Teyvat.
Fontaine isn't the only new location Genshin Impact is set to welcome in future updates with new locations both leaked and teased in recent months. Version 3.8 is expected to bring with it a new limited-time island region for its main event, similar to the previously featured Golden Apple Archipelago. Mondstadt has also been heavily teased to be receiving an expansion in the future, with locations like Dornman Port and the border to Snezhnaya hinted at through leaks. Between official teasers and new leaks, Genshin Impact fans look to have plenty in store when Fontaine launches later this year.
Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
