Summary
- Escoffier lacks a cooking bonus in Genshin Impact despite being a chef character.
- Fans debated if the lack of a cooking bonus for Escoffier was intentional or an oversight.
- Escoffier's strength in gameplay and synergy with Skirk satisfied many fans despite the missing cooking bonus.
Genshin Impact fans have noticed an unusual detail about the cooking abilities of the new five-star character Escoffier, who joined the roster a couple of days ago. Escoffier was released as part of the ongoing Genshin Impact update 5.6, and she shares the same banner cycle as the Fontaine Geo user Navia.
Escoffier was not the only new character released in this update, as HoYoverse also introduced a new four-star character named Ifa, who has been mentioned a number of times throughout the Natlan storyline. HoYoverse placed Escoffier and Ifa on the same banner cycle, which allows players to acquire both of them by wishing on the same Limited Character Banner.
Genshin Impact Leak Explains New 5.7 Game Mode
A new Genshin Impact leak reveals more information about a permanent game mode that might arrive in the upcoming Version 5.7.
Even before she was officially introduced, rumors hinted that Escoffier would be a new chef character and that her entire design would revolve around her culinary skills. However, despite being a chef, a Reddit user named Optimal_flow62 pointed out that Escoffier has no cooking bonus effect. Many characters in the game have the ability to provide additional bonuses when they manage to cook a dish perfectly. For example, as the screenshot shows, when Genshin Impact's Liyue user Hu Tao achieves Perfect Cooking, she has a chance to receive an additional dish. Even Xiangling, who is known as the Head Chef at the Wanmin Restaurant, has a cooking bonus that gives her a 12% chance to drop another dish when she perfectly cooks an ATK-boosting meal.
Genshin Impact Fans Question Why New Character Escoffier Lacks a Cooking Bonus
The topic gained a lot of attention on Genshin Impact's main subreddit, as the thread reached over 8.9k upvotes, with many fans claiming they were surprised to see that Escoffier has no cooking bonus. Some jokingly suggested that it wouldn’t make sense to give Escoffier a Perfect Cooking bonus since all of her dishes are already perfect. According to Genshin Impact's official lore, Escoffier is a perfectionist chef known for her ruthless standards, and she has even earned the reputation of being the "demon chef."
Others claimed that it was probably just an oversight and that HoYoverse is usually spot-on when it comes to implementing such details. Some comments compared Escoffier's lack of a cooking bonus to Natlan's Xilonen, who does not have a forging bonus despite being known as one of the best blacksmiths in Genshin Impact's Pyro nation.
Overall, fans seem satisfied with Escoffier and her strength on the field, especially since recent leaks revealed that she will have great synergy with the upcoming five-star Cryo user Skirk, who is expected to arrive in Genshin Impact Version 5.7. Escoffier's kit revolves around Cryo elemental reactions, and players who want to add her to their roster have around two more weeks to do so, as her banner is expected to expire around May 27.
