Genshin Impact has officially introduced a new five-star Dendro character named Emilie for update 4.8. Even though update 4.7 has not arrived yet, developer HoYoverse has revealed which characters will be joining the playable roster in the next update.
Since Fontaine arrived in Genshin Impact 4.0, each new update has added at least one new five-star character, with the famous Fatui Harbinger Arlecchino being the most recent addition. The recently held livestream event for update 4.7 also confirmed the arrival of Clorinde, Sethos, and Sigewinne in the upcoming weeks.

Genshin Impact's official X account has released the splash art and character introduction for the new five-star Dendro user Emilie. While HoYoverse did not confirm her release date, their announcement pattern indicates that she will join the playable roster in Genshin Impact Version 4.8. Even though Emilie has not yet made any official in-game appearances, she has been mentioned by multiple characters. She is a renowned self-employed perfume designer in Fontaine, and her products are popular all over the Hydro nation. Her official introduction also describes Emilie as a "forensic cleanser," able to restore spaces to their pristine state and erase every trace of decay. She is friends with another playable Fontaine character, Chevreuse, and they often work together in solving complicated cases.
Even though the splash art does not reveal Emilie's weapon type, recent leaks have indicated that she is a polearm user. She will be the first five-star character in the game to have this weapon and element combination. Previous rumors have revealed that Emilie's signature five-star weapon will increase ATK and also provide a significant damage buff whenever the character triggers Burning. This elemental reaction can be caused by combining Dendro with Pyro, which indicates Emilie's synergy with Genshin Impact's Pyro users.
Genshin Impact Update 4.8 Expectations
This could also be symbolic considering that Version 4.8 will be the last update before the release of the Pyro nation, Natlan. Going by HoYoverse's usual update schedule, Travelers can expect Natlan to drop in late August. Update 4.8 host Genshin Impact's annual Summer event, which is filled with exciting events.
At the moment, there are no credible leaks about Emilie's kit, so players will probably have to wait for the 4.8 beta to drop to get more information about this character. Fans hope that she will be a great alternative to the Sumeru Archon Nahida, who has been the most powerful Dendro character in Genshin Impact since her release.
