Summary
- Dahlia is a 4-Star Hydro Sword character set to become playable in the Version 5.7 update.
- Dahlia is a Hydro Shield Support who provides attack speed buffs.
- Dahlia soft-locks to Freeze teams due to passive talent, causing lukewarm reactions from fans.
Thanks to a recent leak, Genshin Impact players can examine a detailed gameplay overview of Dahlia, the upcoming 4-Star Hydro Sword character from Mondstadt. While Dahlia will feature in Version 5.6 during the Archon Quest, the deacon of the Church of Favonius is set to become playable in the subsequent update. Genshin Impact fans are familiar with Dahlia through Rosaria and Barbara, fellow members of the clergy in the City of Freedom. However, they have also known of Dahlia as a playable character since the initial flood of Fontaine leaks in 2023. Him entering the story is thus the final chapter of a long journey of speculation and waiting.
On paper, Dahlia in Genshin Impact has a lot going for him. He is a 4-Star Hydro character, a rare and unexplored archetype. Not only has Hydro only had one 4-Star between Version 1.0 and Version 5.6, but prior to Dahlia, it also had no dedicated Shield Support. Dahlia has a chance to carve out a niche in the meta as a successful 4-Star character, but players are skeptical about his ability kit.
Genshin Impact Leaks Skirk's Ability Kit
A recent Genshin Impact leak finally provides players with a detailed overview of Skirk's ability kit as beta testing for Version 5.7 heats up.
According to Seele Leaks and HomDGCat, Dahlia is a Hydro Shield Support who provides attack speed buffs, but has no off-field Hydro application. While he also comes equipped with a way to resurrect fallen party members at C6, his main drawback is a lack of synergy with Furina in Genshin Impact and having no reliable way to apply Hydro in combat. That being said, Dahlia's Elemental Skill allows players to shoot themselves up, which implies an exploration gimmick not unlike what Venti provides.
Genshin Impact: Dahlia Ability Kit Overview
Normal Attacks
- Normal Attack: Performs up to four consecutive sword strikes.
- Charged Attack: Consumes a certain amount of Stamina to swiftly strike twice in front.
- Plunging Attack: Plunges from midair to strike the ground, damaging enemies along the path and dealing AoE damage upon impact.
Elemental Skill
-
The skill summons a Misty Trace with different effects based on tap or hold.
- Tap: After a brief prayer, summons a Misty Trace in front.
- Hold: Continues praying, then summons a Misty Trace at the targeted location when the prayer ends.
- Misty Trace: If an enemy touches it, it explodes, dealing AoE Hydro damage. If a nearby party member touches it, it launches them upward.
Elemental Burst
- Performs a devout prayer, dealing AoE Hydro damage and granting an effect to the current active character while summoning a shield.
- The shield's absorption scales with Max HP and has 250% increased effectiveness against Hydro damage.
- When the shield expires or is broken, Dahlia can consume a special stack to summon a new shield.
-
Stacks are gained through the following methods:
- When the active character under the effect hits enemies with Normal Attack 4 times, Dahlia gains 1 stack, triggering the effect of the first passive talent.
- Up to 5 stacks can be gained during each instance of the effect.
Passive Talents
-
When the active character under the effect triggers Frozen, Dahlia gains 2 stacks.
- The stack can only be obtained once every 8 seconds.
- While the active character is affected, their Attack Speed is increased based on Dahlia's Max HP: every 1,000 HP increases their Attack Speed by 0.4% (up to 15%).
- From 06:00 to 18:00, characters in the party gain 10% increased Movement Speed. The passive does not work in Domains, Trounce Domains, or Spiral Abyss, and the effect cannot stack.
Constellations
-
First Constellation (C1)
- Each time a stack is gained from the Elemental Burst, Dahlia restores 2 Energy.
-
Second Constellation (C2)
- After consuming a stack to summon a shield via the Elemental Burst, the character protected by the shield gains 25% increased Shield Strength for 12 seconds.
-
Fourth Constellation (C4)
- Extends the duration of the restoration effect from Elemental Burst by 3 seconds.
-
Sixth Constellation (C6)
- The active character under the effect gains a 10% increase to Attack Speed.
- If the active character under the effect is defeated, they are immediately revived and fully healed. Can be triggered once every 15 minutes.
At the very least, the ability kit implies that Dahlia will have some use for Wriothesley in Genshin Impact, as he relies on Normal Attacks to deal damage. It remains to be seen if this will apply to other Normal Attack hypercarries, such as Ayato and Yoimiya, but a 25% buff to attack speed shouldn't be discarded outright. Unfortunately, given his passive talent, the maximum effectiveness of his Elemental Shield soft-locks Dahlia to Freeze teams – or at the very least demands a Cryo party member.
Initial reactions to Dahlia are lukewarm and cautious, as many players have chosen to adopt a "wait-and-see" approach. The previous character who launched with subpar off-field Hydro was Sigewinne, a 5-Star character whose usefulness is largely tied to Furina teams. While ability kits can dramatically change over the course of beta testing, as seen with Arlecchino in Genshin Impact, fans should temper their expectations of Dahlia.
