Genshin Impact's newest "Character Demo" Trailer shows off the newest five-star character set to arrive in Version 3.1, Cyno. As HoYoVerse begins to roll out the newest version of its massively popular RPG, players have already been given a taste of what to expect out of Version 3.1. The addition of Sumeru's desert region will be joined by a new festival seeing players return to the game's first region of Mondstadt and a trio of new characters. Now, the newest trailer shows off the first five-star character players can obtain during Version 3.1, Cyno.
The new trailer from Genshin Impact, titled "Cyno: Counsel of Condemnation," features Cyno clashing with the bandit Eremites in one of the Sumeru desert's ancient temples. The flashy cinematic trailer shows off several of Cyno's Normal Attack animations, as well as introducing players to his Electro kit. Cyno's Elemental Skill sees the character thrust forward with his spear, dealing Electro damage to enemies in his path. His Elemental Burst gives him a pair of Electro-infused claws, changing all of his normal attacks to deal Electro damage as well as buffing his Elemental Skill.
While Cyno is just being added to the game with Version 3.1, Genshin Impact fans have known about the Akademiya Mahamatra's eventual introduction for most of the game's lifespan. Cyno was featured in the Sumeru segment of Genshin Impact's "Teyvat Chapter Storyline Preview" video, released leading into the game's launch in September 2020. Cyno has also seen several leaks leading up to his release with details of his kit surfacing as early as July.
Cyno will be one of three new characters introduced in Genshin Impact's Version 3.1, running on the update's first gacha banner alongside new four-star character Candace. Nilou, who featured heavily in the story of Version 3.0, will follow Cyno's banner for the second half of Version 3.1. The new update will also feature two popular Mondstadt characters to go along with the patch's Mondstadt-themed event, with Venti and Albedo receiving re-run banners. Version 3.1 will notably be the first update to add a new five-star to the game's permanent gacha banner as well, with 3.0 five-star Tighnari joining the rotation.
With Cyno and Nilou set to headline Version 3.1, many Genshin Impact fans have already discovered what characters they can expect going forward. Genshin Impact's social media accounts recently featured two upcoming characters, confirming the Dendro Archon Nahida will be featured during Version 3.2 alongside Hydro character Layla. Leaks from future updates have also teased long-awaited characters like Scaramouche and Baizhu. Between new characters and Sumeru's desert, Genshin Impact players will have plenty to look forward to in the coming update.
Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
