Summary

  • Team compositions in Genshin Impact require attention to elemental reactions.
  • The top-ranked team in the DPR Cup competition used Hu Tao as the main DPS.
  • Xilonen is a key character, making Geo more viable in Genshin Impact.

An interesting Genshin Impact competition had players assemble a team of certain characters to see who could beat an enemy the fastest. Genshin Impact allows players to use up to four different playable characters in their party, and with the character count slowly reaching 100, players can make countless different combinations.

One of the main things players need to pay attention to when assembling a team composition is elemental reactions, which can be triggered by combining different elements. While combining some elements can result in powerful damage multipliers or on-field effects, others don't have great synergy.

A new post by a Reddit user named tracer4b has revealed the results of an interesting team competition in the Chinese player base called the DPR Cup. The competition required players to create a team composition and fight Potapo's Solidarity boss, an enemy that has over 9.2 million health points. One of the rules in the competition was that players were only allowed to use older DPS characters in Genshin Impact, as the more recent roster additions like Neuvillette, Arlecchino, Chasca, Clorinde, and a couple of others were banned. Other characters like Kazuha, Yelan, and Furina were allowed, but only in Genshin Impact's support role. The highest-ranked team composition features Hu Tao as the main DPS, with a supporting cast that includes Ayaka, Xianyun, and Xilonen. The team managed to beat the boss in 13 seconds, dealing an average of 712k damage per second.

Genshin Impact DPS Competition Results Revealed

Surprisingly, the second-fastest team composition actually features a four-star in the main DPS role. Genshin Impact's Bennett has once again proven why he is widely considered the best four-star character in the game. He has the same three supports, just like the third-place team, which features one of the oldest five-star characters in the game and a member of the Standard Banner, Mondstadt's Darknight hero Diluc.

The fourth-fastest team has the famous Inazuma DPS, Genshin Impact's Ayaka, as the main DPS unit. For a long time, Ayaka has been considered one of, if not the best elemental DPS unit in the game. However, with the meta heavily shifting with the release of Dendro, Ayaka, along with many other Cryo users, has been pushed down in the Genshin Impact meta.

One thing that all of the top 8 teams have in common is that they use the recently released Geo user Xilonen. According to a couple of players, this character has single-handedly managed to make Geo much more viable, as her kit is much more flexible compared to other characters that use this element. Fans hope that Genshin Impact could release a Cryo character that would follow a similar design pattern and make the Cryo element increase in popularity.
