Summary
- Chronicled Banner might return in Genshin Impact 5.3, themed around Liyue characters.
- Players hope for an improved gacha system based on feedback from the first Chronicled Banner.
According to a recent leak, the controversial Chronicled Banner might be making a return to Genshin Impact in Version 5.3. Over the course of its long history, Genshin Impact has nearly quadrupled its number of playable characters. Whereas double Event Banners, initially introduced in Version 2.3, have kept reruns at a reasonable pace in Genshin Impact, many players feel that the time has come for the developers to look into a better solution.
The Chronicled Banner in Genshin Impact was an attempt to address this issue, but its execution left a lot to be desired. In Version 4.5, players were encouraged to spend their Intertwined Wishes on standard and limited characters from Mondstadt, all clumped together in the first Chronicled Banner. However, it had a separate pity from Event Banners, and its Fate Points would not carry over. With no guarantee that the Chronicled Banner would ever rerun, most players held onto their Primogems, or chose to spend them on the featured characters from Version 4.5 – such as Neuvillette and Kazuha.
Genshin Impact Reveals Second Phase Banners for Version 5.0
The official lineup for Phase 2 of Version 5.0 is out, as Genshin Impact is bringing back long-awaited 4-Star characters to the Event Banners.
However, it would seem that HoYoverse is toying with a potential return of the Chronicled Banner, as explained by Flying Flame Leaks. Given the fact that the next Lantern Rite in Genshin Impact will take place in Version 5.3, the Chronicled Banner will almost certainly be themed around Liyue characters. While Shenhe and Xianyun are still ineligible to be featured in the Chronicled Banner, characters such as Ganyu, Xiao, and Baizhu would all be fair game.
Which Genshin Impact Characters May Feature in the New Chronicled Banner?
- Qiqi – 5-Star Cryo Sword
- Keqing – 5-Star Electro Sword
- Ganyu – 5-Star Cryo Bow
- Xiao – 5-Star Anemo Polearm
- Baizhu – 5-Star Dendro Catalyst
With Hu Tao expected to feature on the Event Banners for Version 5.1, and with Yelan recently having a rerun in Version 4.8, these two Liyue characters would be ineligible for a Chronicled Banner. Furthermore, the developers will likely avoid placing an Archon on the Chronicled Banner – which means that Zhongli in Genshin Impact will either feature on the Event Banners in Version 5.2, or will be an exception to the rule.
Given that it will almost be a full year since the first Chronicled Banner in Genshin Impact, the developers may have a chance to improve upon its gacha system based on player feedback. Sharing pity with the Event Banners, having a longer duration, or even becoming a permanent fixture have all been proposed as solutions by the community. However, many fans still believe that adding Triple Banners to Genshin Impact could be the simpler, more elegant option in the end.
