With Genshin Impact having more and more characters in every version, players expected the developer to soon release three banners at once so that players don’t have to wait too long for the character they want. However, to everyone’s surprise, instead of having three banners at one time, HoYoverse came up with a new system called the Chronicled Wish banner in Genshin Impact.
To better understand the new system of the Chronicled Wish banner in Genshin Impact, this article will cover some FAQ such as the mechanics of the new banner, the available characters, and the future plan for the brand-new rerun system.

What Is A Chronicled Wish In Genshin Impact?
The Chronicled Wish banner in Genshin Impact is like a mix of the typical Character Limited banner and Weapon banner. Here’s a summary of the wish system:
- To pull on the Chronicled Wish banner, you must use Intertwined Fate.
- You get to choose between the available character or weapon in the banner.
- You’re guaranteed to get the character or weapon you want on the second 5-star pull. Meanwhile, on the first 5-star, the odds of getting what you want is 50%.
- The 100% 5-star drop guarantee is at 90 pulls, regardless of whether you choose a weapon or character.
- If you choose a character as your guaranteed drop, your 50/50 loss is going to be a character. Subsequently, if you choose a weapon, your 50/50 loss is going to be a weapon.
As a mix of Limited Character banner and Weapon banner, here’s how you can expect the Chronicled Wish banner in Genshin Impact to work:
- Choose between the available characters or weapons
- Wish until you get a 5-star drop
- There’s a 50% chance you will get the 5-star you chose. If you pick a character, your 50/50 loss will be a character, not a weapon; if you choose a weapon, your 50/50 loss will be a weapon, not a character.
- If you lose the 50/50, you will get one Fate point, similar to the Weapon banner. However, unlike on the Weapon banner, where you need three 5-stars for a guarantee, Chronicled Wish only needs two 5-stars for a guarantee. This means your next 5-star pull has a 100% chance of being the character or weapon you choose.
- Once you get the 5-star that you want or if you change your selection, the Fate point will be removed.
Does Chronicled Wish Pity Carry Over In Genshin Impact?
Similar to the Weapon banner in Genshin Impact, the wish count is carried normally, meaning the pity count will carry on, but Fate Points from the Chronicled Wish don’t get carried over.
An Example Of The Chronicled Wish System
For example, if you choose Shenhe as your 5-star guarantee, you won’t get any 5-star weapon from this banner. Upon using your Intertwined Fate, you finally get a 5-star. But instead of Shenhe, you get Ganyu.
Since you lost your 50% chance, you will get one Fate Point. Now, you can pull until you get another 5-star, and you’ll be guaranteed Shenhe on your next gold drop.
However, if you stop drawing and the Chronicled Wish banner ends, you will lose your Fate Point.
For instance, after getting Ganyu and losing your 50%, you pulled 50 times and ran out of Primogems. After the current Chronicled Wish banner ends and new characters are available, you’ll be back to the 50/50 odds upon choosing a new 5-star guarantee. However, you’ll still be at the 50th draw for your pity count and only need 40 more pulls to reach the 90th wish guarantee.
Is Chronicled Wish Permanent In Genshin Impact?
Genshin Impact 4.5 is the debut version of Chronicled Wish, but the second Chronicled Wish is much later in Genshin Impact 5.3, while the third set of banners is available in version 5.6. Therefore, it's easy to conclude that Chronicled Wish doesn't reoccur in every version and is something that's available from time to time instead.
Upon the release of the Chronicled Wish, it has the following criteria for the featured characters:
- Only exclusive 5-star characters that have appeared in a Character Limited banner at least three times but haven’t been available in any recent Character Limited banner will appear in the Chronicled Wish banner.
- Characters who appeared in the Chronicled Wish banner will still appear in future reruns or even other Chronicled Wish cycles.
However, the developer later decided to be less strict with the requirements so that they could bring long-awaited characters like Shenhe.
