The Game Awards has a Player's Voice category that is seeing gacha game Genshin Impact completely demolish the competition, including highest-rated game of 2022, Elden Ring. The Game Awards is scheduled to take place on Thursday, December 8, and on that day, fans will find out which games will take home the award in various categories.

The biggest award at The Game Awards 2022 will be voted on by a jury comprised of gaming journalists, industry insiders, and other media. There are six games nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards this year, with A Plague Tale: Requiem, Elden Ring, God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, Stray, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 all competing for the top prize. The favorites to win going into the event this year are Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarok, but a completely unexpected game is running away with the Player's Voice category.

After three rounds of voting, Genshin Impact is leading the Player's Voice category at The Game Awards with over 53% of the vote, according to IGN. Second place is Sonic Frontiers with 33% of the vote, while Elden Ring only has 8% of the vote. God of War Ragnarok and Stray trail behind those games with 5% and 1% of the vote, respectively. It's likely that these numbers have changed since IGN reported on it, but current results are unavailable as the Game Awards site does not appear to be working properly at the time of this writing, perhaps due to an influx of users submitting votes for the Player's Voice category.

Genshin Impact and Sonic Frontiers have been neck and neck when it comes to Player's Voice voting, but it looks like Genshin Impact is going to run away with the award this year. There are some who may take issue with this, mainly because Genshin Impact did not release in 2022. All the other games nominated in the Player's Voice category were games that actually launched in 2022, whereas Genshin Impact originally released in 2020.

Presumably, the reason why Genshin Impact is up for the Player's Voice in 2022 despite first releasing in 2020 is because of its live service nature. Genshin Impact is a live service gacha game that sees updates on a frequent basis, and it is nominated for Best Ongoing Game as a result. It remains to be seen if it will win that category, but for now, it looks like it's going to easily win the Player's Voice category come December 8.
