One highly skilled Genshin Impact player has managed to get a perfect score on the latest version of the Spiral Abyss Floor 12 while playing the game on what appears to be an Apple Watch. While the feat adds to the ever-growing list of impressive Genshin Impact community achievements, there is some debate over the exact device used to accomplish this, which looks like an Apple Watch but could actually be something else.

Genshin Impact's Spiral Abyss challenge domain changes on a regular basis. The last three floors (9–12), called the Abyssal Moon Spire, are reset once per month, with each new reset bringing new enemies, Ley Line Disorders, and blessings. Rewards scale by area, and obtaining perfect three-star ratings on the top floors tends to be a worthwhile endeavor. Genshin Impact's Spiral Abyss is overall widely considered as one of the game's toughest challenges.

While some players get stuck once they reach the higher floors, others are looking for ways to up the challenge even further through self-imposed limitations. One such fan has recently posted a video of them clearing the top three floors of what's supposedly the upcoming 5.8 version of Genshin Impact's Spiral Abyss with a perfect three-star rating on an Apple Watch. The video, posted on Chinese social media platform BiliBili (via Dexerto) by user Hua Qiao Chen Ye Yu Cang, shows them blasting through the final floor of the Abyss, seemingly unbothered by the constraints of a 1.92-inch screen.

Genshin Impact 5.8 Spiral Abyss on (What Looks Like) Apple Watch Ultra

The device that the player used to achieve this impressive feat looks like either the 2022 Apple Watch Ultra or its 2023 follow-up, the highly rated Apple Watch Ultra 2. While there are no obvious visual cues to distinguish between the two, it's possible that the smartwatch in the video isn't an Apple product at all. Genshin Impact is not officially available on wearables, and watchOS is a locked platform, making it impossible to run HoYoverse’s gacha ARPG on such devices through legitimate means.

This leaves two possibilities: the player used a jailbroken Apple Watch Ultra (2) or a knockoff device running Google’s Wear OS, formerly known as Android Wear. The latter seems more likely, as running Android apps on unsupported hardware is generally easier than doing the same with their iOS counterparts within Apple’s ecosystem.

No, Genshin Impact 5.8 Update Isn't Out Yet

Another mystery surrounding this achievement is how exactly the player got their hands on the Genshin Impact 5.8 update. The upcoming patch is scheduled for global release on July 30, and HoYoverse generally doesn't do early releases for its home market. Regardless, clearing the 12th floor of the Spiral Abyss on a smartwatch has impressed many fans, as evidenced by the BiliBili video garnering over 570,000 views, 40,000 likes, and more than 7,000 shares since its July 21 debut.
