Summary
- Genshin Impact leak hints at a May 22 announcement, possibly an animated short premiere.
- Skirk, a highly anticipated character, is set to join the playable roster soon.
- Speculation on upcoming content involving new regions and potential character appearances.
A new Genshin Impact leak has revealed that players should look forward to an announcement on May 22. As an open-world live service game, Genshin Impact follows a tight update schedule, introducing new content every few weeks. Each update lasts approximately 6–7 weeks, during which new events and story developments are periodically added.
Genshin Impact’s main source of revenue is its playable character roster, with many players trying to acquire new limited-time characters. This is why, before each new character is added, Genshin Impact releases a series of teaser videos that delve into the character’s backstory. HoYoverse recently announced that one of the most anticipated characters in the community, Skirk, will finally join the playable roster in the coming months.
Genshin Impact Leak Gives Update on Durin's Potential Release Window
A new Genshin Impact leak provides more information about the potential release window of the human version of the legendary dragon Durin.
A new post on the Genshin Impact Leaks subreddit has revealed that an animated short will premiere on May 22. Unlike Genshin Impact’s usual trailers, which focus on new or existing characters, these animated shorts often feature story developments or introductions to new regions. While some fans speculate that the new teaser will focus on Skirk, others believe it's too early for her first promotional video. Many players suspect the short might reveal more about the next major region, expected to follow the conclusion of the Natlan arc. HoYoverse has already hinted that the next significant update will introduce the mysterious Nod-Krai, confirmed to be part of Snezhnaya. Considering that few announcements have mentioned Snezhnaya directly, it's possible that the entire 6.X update cycle may center around Nod-Krai rather than the full Cryo nation.
Genshin Impact Leak Reveals Release Date for New Animated Short
Some fans have also suggested that the teaser might finally reveal the long-awaited Grandmaster of the Knights of Favonius, better known as Varka. He has been referenced multiple times in the game, especially during Genshin Impact's Mondstadt arc. Since Nod-Krai is rumored to be located north of Mondstadt, it wouldn’t be surprising if Varka finally makes an appearance.
In one of its previous teasers, Genshin Impact revealed Varka’s voice, and his appearance was hinted at in the Version 5.6 quest line. Even if the animated short focuses on Skirk instead, fans likely won’t be disappointed as she’s been a fan-favorite ever since her first appearance back in Version 4.2.
Many players were disappointed to learn that Genshin Impact's Harbinger, Capitano, will not be joining the playable roster though Skirk could prove to be a solid consolation prize. Assuming HoYoverse continues its pattern of featuring new characters in the first banner cycle of each update, players can expect Skirk to become playable around June 18.
