Atocpan is a volcanic island that was released in Genshin Impact 5.5. While exploring the island, players need to be careful, as the volcano can erupt at any moment and shoot lava everywhere. A Brief History of Rocks is a quest in which Travelers help Mposo salvage the area after a violent volcano eruption.
After triggering the Atocpan world quest in Genshin Impact, players are given the choice to go to one of two locations to investigate the volcanoes. In one of these locations, you will encounter Mposo and trigger the A Brief History of Rocks quest.

How To Trigger A Brief History Of Rocks Quest In Genshin Impact
In Atocpan, head to the Remnants of Tetenanco teleport waypoints and turn east to find Mposo standing on a small platform. Mposo greets players and reveals that he tried going inside the volcano but that only backfired. Additionally, the volcano eruption did severe damage to the location, and now it’s full of rocks. The ‘old man’ asks for help and promises players that they can keep whatever reward they find.
Next to Mposo is a barrier with a golden seal attached to it. You need to destroy the rocks and find the remaining three seals to unlock the barrier and claim the chest inside. It’s essential to do this step if Travelers are interested in collecting all Sunset-Blue Obsidian fragments in Genshin Impact, as the precious chest might contain one of them.
How To Complete A Brief History Of Rocks Quest In Genshin Impact
Use any of the available Tatankasaurus transformations and start smashing all the rocks around the area. As it is a small area, the three missing golden seals will be discovered quickly beneath the rubble while smashing the rocks. One of them, however, is close to the lava pond and is guarded by an enemy.
Interacting with this seal will spawn the Fluid Avatar of Lava, and players must defeat the boss. It’s not a hard enemy, so any strong character with decent damage will do, especially if it’s a Hydro character. Once the boss is defeated, touch the seal to send it to the barrier. As the four seals unlock the barrier, speak with Mposo one last time to end the A Brief History of Rocks quest and claim the precious chest.
