Genshin Impact has managed to go 500 days without releasing a new character that uses the Geo Vision. There are seven different elements in the game with Dendro being the most recent addition. Dendro's arrival has introduced tons of new elemental reactions which completely changed the character meta.
Players are required to combine Genshin Impact's elements in order to produce different elemental reactions that have various effects, from completely immobilizing a group of enemies with Freeze, to boosting the characters' damage potential by using Vaporize. While most elements can interact with each other, Geo and Anemo are usually considered neutral elements.
Developer HoYoverse has introduced an interesting pattern of releasing new characters with every new update that arrives with the Dendro user Kirara being the most recent addition. During the whole Sumeru arc, Genshin Impact has been adding at least one new character in every new version of the game. The ongoing Genshin Impact 3.7 is the only update since 3.0 that has not included a new five-star character. HoYoverse usually tries to balance the number of playable characters for each of the seven elements, however, one element seems to stand out. A Reddit user named pumaflex_ has started an interesting discussion on Genshin Impact's main subreddit that commemorates the game reaching an infamous milestone of not releasing a Geo character for 500 days.
The last Geo user that joined the roster was Yunjin who arrived way back in update 2.4 which dropped on January 5, 2022. HoYoverse did not officially clarify why there haven't been any new Geo users for such a long time, but fans speculate that the main reason could be the fact that this element does not have a great synergy with Dendro.
Even though the Dendro element arrived in late August 2022, the amount of characters that have a Dendro Vision has already surpassed the number of Geo users in the roster. While Dendro's arrival introduced tons of new elemental reactions, none of them can interact with Geo since this element can only trigger Crystalize when in contact with Pyro, Electro, Hydro, and Cryo.
At the moment, the only viable character that uses this element is probably the Liyue Archon Zhongli who has a stacked kit that allows him to deal massive bursts of damage as well as create the strongest shield in the game. For a very long time, Genshin Impact fans have been asking HoYoverse to completely rework the way Geo interacts with other elements in the game.
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5, and a Switch version is in development.
