Genshin Impact’s 5.0 Update Could Shift the Meta

The raised character ascension level cap from 90 to 100 has been a long time coming, and it may end up happening as early as Genshin Impact’s 5.0 update. On its own, this change seems like it would make the overall endgame experience easier with players potentially being able to be at higher levels than enemies. However, more recently, there has been speculation and leaks suggesting that there may also be an additional world level that will balance out this new difficulty curve. Not only could these changes shift the meta for combat in Genshin Impact, but a new world level generally increases the quality and quantity of loot that players earn from most activities.

On the other hand, though, raising the level cap has some interesting implications for the activities and events that don’t scale with the player’s current world level, such as the Imaginarium Theater and the Spiral Abyss in Genshin Impact. So, if the character ascension level cap proves to be true, this could mean that certain events and endgame activities may become more accessible.

Outside of these overall balancing changes, the upcoming Natlan characters are also believed to have exclusive features that could potentially shift the meta. Specifically, the new Natlan characters coming to Genshin Impact are said to be able to simultaneously benefit from multiple Elemental buffs, as well as a new mechanic, known as Nightsoul Burst, which will provide various temporary buffs.

Genshin Impact Leaks Reveal Mounts and Companions for the Natlan Region

With the Fontaine region shaking things up by introducing underwater exploration, this has put some pressure on future regions in Genshin Impact to experiment with their own, innovative exploration mechanics. According to the leaks that claim the Natlan region could introduce mounts, this trend for adding new exploration mechanics is seemingly off to a great start. On top of potentially being able to ride mounts to get around the new region more efficiently, some leaks also claim that players will have access to various companions in the Natlan region that can provide assistance in combat.

The official Genshin Impact Special Program will likely answer a lot of lingering questions about what to expect from the next updates for Genshin Impact, though recent trusted leaks already paint an exciting picture. On top of the standard features that the next series of updates will bring to Genshin Impact, like a new region filled with new characters, enemies, and an Archon questline, some of the more unique features potentially coming in the 5.0 update could be game-changing.
