Although Genshin Impact 4.1 wasn’t that exciting in terms of content, it kept players entertained enough for the release of the following version. Travelers will get to play the new events and the new Archon Quest and collect some much-needed Primogems to save up for the characters or weapons they desire in 4.2.
Genshin Impact 4.2 is filled with many exciting features such as Archon Quest, new characters, weapons, and not to mention a whole new area to explore. There are also some unusual Bosses in Genshin Impact that players will get to fight as well as some new puzzles scattered around the map.

New Characters
Two new characters will become available in Genshin Impact 4.2; the Hydro Archon, Furina, and Charlotte, a reporter for the famous Steambird. The former is a 5-Star Hydro character in Genshin Impact while the latter is a 4-Star Cryo unit.
Wish Banners: Baizhu + Furina And Ayato + Cyno
Players who didn't get to wish for a certain character now have the chance to obtain them thanks to some rerun banners. The first half of the Genshin Impact 4.2 includes a rerun for Baizhu alongside Furina.
The second half is both rerun banners for Kamisato Ayato and Cyno.
New Weapon
Only one weapon is added in Genshin Impact 4.2, which is the Splendor of Tranquil Waters.
New Areas
Players will get to explore a whole new area in Fontaine that’s filled with a plethora of enemies, World Quests, and Ascension Materials in Genshin Impact. Travelers will also encounter the new Weekly Bosses.
New Exploration Mechanic
A new Fontemer Aberrant is introduced, the Xenochromatic Ball Octopus, and Travelers can borrow its ability to cleanse the contamination clots and cores from underwater. Also, thanks to a special device found above water, players can use the octopus abilities to solve some interesting puzzles on the surface.
New Bosses
The new Weekly Boss, All-Devouring Narwhal, will be introduced in Genshin Impact 4.2 and can be found in the new area of Fontaine.
Another Boss called Hydro Tulpa is also encountered in the new version.
New Quests
Other than the obvious World Quests, players can continue the Archon Quest in the new version and pick up from where they left off in the previous version in Act V Masquerade of the Guilty.
The new 5-Star character Furina will also have a Story Quest called Animula Choragi Chapter: Act I.
New Event
There will be a main event called Thelxie’s Fantastic Adventures in Genshin Impact 4.2 where players will enjoy many rewards including Primogems. Additionally, completing all three parts of the event allows players to invite Freminet to their party.
Other Events
Genshin Impact 4.2 will also include some other time-limited events including:
- Lil’ Fungi’s Fun-Tastic Fiesta.
- Graph Adversarial Technology Experiment Log.
- Misty Dungeon: Realm of Water.
- Ley Line Overflow.
New TCG Cards And Optimizations
There will be three new characters added in the upcoming version, which are Nilou, Baizhu, and Dori, alongside five new Action Cards in Genshin Impact.
Other features of TCG include:
- Acceleration option in the settings for smoother gameplay.
- Deck sharing code gives players a chance to share decks with each other.
- The number of Decks players can save has increased from 10 to 20.
- The maximum number of starting slots and unlocked slots at each player upgrade is increased from 2 to 4.
System Optimizations
Travelers who haven’t had the chance to explore or complete the Archon Quest but are in desperate need of Boss Ascension Materials can now immediately unlock the desired Weekly Boss.
If by any chance the Boss is difficult and Travelers are having a hard time beating it, an option to lower the difficulty will be offered to struggling players in Genshin Impact.
Returning players will witness a new form of Stellar Reunion where the game gives exploration guidance and several rewards to encourage them to explore more. Additionally, they will get privileged Story Keys to enjoy some Story Quests and Hangout Events in Genshin Impact.
Speaking of Story Keys, Travelers can now unlock Story Quests without being forced to trigger them to not overflow their Quest List. Additionally, once players are stuck on a mission and can’t proceed, there are now more details options to reveal more information concerning the required Quest.
Finally, the Red Notification Dot indicating that players should claim an item or check information will not re-appear upon logging in on another platform.
