How to save in Dying Light The Beast
Dying Light: The Beast has an automatic save feature, so it tracks your play activity and saves progress on its own at intervals. You don’t have to take special action—like press a button or sleep at a checkpoint—to update your current save file.

If you have cloud saves enabled, you can play Dying Light: The Beast from any device on the same platform without losing out on progress. Players who aren’t looking for this benefit can stick to local saves, which work just fine.
Why can’t you save in Dying Light The Beast?
Despite having a pretty successful launch, Dying Light: The Beast definitely doesn’t come without its share of quirks. Players love how it maintains the franchise’s iconic zombie experience while acting upon crucial features like parkour and combat to make them shinier. That said, the bugs are too apparent to be avoidable, especially the one affecting saving game files on PC.
So if you can’t load back exactly where you left off, don’t worry—it’s not you, it’s Techland. In fact, even graphics settings aren’t saving as they should, forcing players to reconfigure every time they launch the game.
While many have reported issues with saving progress and settings in Dying Light: The Beast, Techland has yet to address them with a hotfix. Thankfully, there’s a workaround you can try to bypass them for now.
All you need to do is run Steam as an administrator: Right-click on the Steam executable file and select Run as administrator. Now, launch Dying Light: The Beast as you do. If you use a direct executable for the game, right-click on that and select Run as administrator. This workaround has solved the saving issues in Dying Light: The Beast for many. Some players found relief by disabling cloud saves and the anti-virus protecting their PC instead.
Since the game has launched recently, Techland will likely fix all reported issues with time, so you don’t have to use this workaround forever.
