The Best War Games is back with another episode of The Best War Games Arcade, the official podcast for the site. As revealed last episode, host Cameron Corliss will be stepping away from his duties on the podcast, so Anthony Taormina has taken over for the time being. More importantly, The Best War Games Arcade can welcome back its only guest for a repeat appearance – Christian Spicer has returned!
On The Best War Games Arcade Episode 65, Anthony and Christian mix up the format and dig into some of the games, movies, and TV shows that they have been playing/watching over the last month or so. The hot new release for this week is Tunic, which is a Zelda-inspired indie game that mixes a little Souls-like into its formula. The Best War Games reviewed Tunic and gave it a 4/5 and both Christian and Anthony are in the agreement that this is something special.

Other gaming topics on the podcast include Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, the new game from Nioh developer, Team Ninja. Meant to act as a reimagining of the first Final Fantasy story, Stranger of Paradise builds on Team Ninja’s experience with Souls-like games and folds in some classic Final Fantasy elements like jobs. Of course, a lot of the discussion around Stranger of Paradise has been the meme-worthy dialogue, so make sure to tune in and find out what other gems Anthony discovered while playing the game.
Anthony also was able to watch the first episode of the Halo TV series, which is set to debut on Paramount+ later this month. Halo has been in development for quite a while now and has seemingly undergone a lot of transformation in the time since.
Unfortunately, all of that time in the oven has not seemed to lead to a Halo TV show that mirrors the source material. Instead, the first episode suggests something more akin to The Mandalorian, where Master Chief is used as a vessel for an uprising against the UNSC. That being said, there are some elements that fans of the game series will really enjoy seeing in live action.
The duo round out the podcast will some discussions of game industry news, specifically the impressive sales numbers for Elden Ring. FromSoftware’s latest has sold a whopping 12 million copies since its release, which is a massive accomplishment for the Japanese studio. Already a frontrunner for Game of the Year awards, Elden Ring looks to crack the top 10 for 2022 game sales as well.
