Game of Thrones: Kingsroad was announced back in November 2024, and received extra coverage during The Game Awards which took place in December. The South Korean game developer Netmarble has Marvel Future Fight and Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds in its game portfolio, and the team has promised “raw, aggressive, and destructive” combat awaits. Game of Thrones: Kingsroad has the potential to join the list of mobile games with the best stories, thanks to the rich lore and character narratives crafted by creator George R.R. Martin and the HBO adaptation, which Kingsroad calls upon.
A new trailer lasting over one minute showcased Game of Thrones: Kingsroad’s gameplay features, covering class-based progression with “fully manual” controls for players to man a knight or assassin. The game will also present a brand-new story built around a fresh character in the franchise, existing as the heir to House Tyre dwelling in the North. Game of Thrones: Kingsroad Reveals New Gameplay Trailer and Closed Beta Details
Fans previously predicted where Game of Thrones: Kingsroad would lie in the franchise’s timeline, and it’s now been confirmed to be set during the show's fourth season. The original characters take inspiration from Wildlings, Dothraki, and the Faceless Men, and fans will receive their first hands-on experience during the game’s imminent closed beta test. The beta will run from January 16–22, 2025 in the United States, Canada, and select parts of Europe via the game’s official website, with a full launch coming later this year.
Kingsroad will likely offer a meaty experience to marvel at while the Game of Thrones community waits patiently for the next book in the series The Winds of Winter, since several setbacks have arisen regarding the manuscript. George R.R. Martin even sought writer’s block advice from horror veteran Stephen King, but fans also have a series of projects to keep them busy in the interim, such as A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and House of the Dragon season 3.
