The Full House cast admits that they still want to do another spin-off of the iconic show, despite Bob Saget's unforeseen death this past January. The comedic actor was known for hosting America's Funniest Home Videos from 1997-1998. He also voiced the older Ted Mosby on the hit series, How I Met Your Mother.
However, despite all the success earlier in his career, he is still best known and beloved by audiences for his role as Danny Turner in the '80/'90s sitcom, Full House. Saget, before he passed, was also able to star in Netflix's off-shoot of the original as well, Fuller House. His co-stars, family members, loved ones and his hardcore fan base were absolutely shocked and devastated when the news broke out that Saget had died seemingly out of nowhere, at the age of 65. The role of Danny Turner was a much more clean-cut role for Saget's more raunchy style of comedy that he implemented in the beginning of his career. Saget played a wholesome, straight-laced, dorky, single dad of the Turner household. Throughout the years, audiences watched as he bestowed wisdom onto his three daughters, DJ (Candace Cameron-Blue), Stephanie (Jodie Sweeting), and Michelle (played alternatively by Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen) throughout the course of their childhoods.
Regardless of how much his daughters grew up and began to live their own lives, a daughter still needs her Dad. Saget's character remains as the crucial foundation of the Turner clan. However, despite his influential presence throughout the entirety of the series, the Full House cast has recently claimed that they are up to taking on the challenge of carrying on without their faithful leader. Several Full House actors recently spoke to TODAY about the possibility of creating yet another off-shoot. To many fans' surprise, the Fuller House cast claimed without any hesitation that they are willing to continue the show without Saget. Actress Andrea Barber, who played Kimmy Gibbler, stated that “while it would be hard, Bob would want that." She continued, “There’s a lot of moms bringing their little girls - it’s such a wonderful full circle moment to see these moms who were like, ‘I grew up with you guys, and now my daughters are growing up with you on Fuller House."
Dave Coulier, who played Joey Gladstone on the series chimed in. “Like, okay, we’ll do ‘Fullest House.’ I think we would in a heartbeat,” he said. Candace Cameron-Bure, who played D.J. Tanner, added, “I think that’s one of the greatest legacies that he’s going to leave, is that he gets to be America’s dad, people get to take that memory away - that will never go away.”
It seems as though the Full House cast is adamant about pursuing another reboot without Saget to carry on the comfort, nostalgia, and warmth that the show has brought and continues to bring to families across the nation. However, the cast also made it clear that they are also open to continuing the series without Saget in order to continue the profound legacy that he left - in their hands. At this point, there hasn’t been any indication or announcement to suggest that Fuller House will be revived for yet another season. However, at least the cast is unanimously all in when it comes to pursuing a future off-shoot series going forward.
Full House and Fuller House are available on Netflix.
