The Front Mission franchise started under Square in 1995, eight years before the Japanese publisher merged with Enix. The mainline entries in the mech-themed series are turn-based role-playing games. The original entry launched on the SNES exclusively in Japan, though it was ported to the WonderSwan Color, PS1, and Nintendo DS years later. In contrast, Front Mission 2 and 3 were PS1 exclusives. During the February 2022 Nintendo Direct, Polish developer-publisher Forever Entertainment announced Front Mission 1st: Remake, released in November of the same year. A modernized version of the sequel with a slightly different naming scheme—Front Mission 2: Remake—hit the market in 2023.

Forever Entertainment will be following up on that release with Front Mission 3: Remake, which was already announced several years back but now has a firm launch date: June 26. Like the company's first two Front Mission remakes, the upcoming title will launch as a Nintendo Switch exclusive, priced at $34.99. While Forever Entertainment typically offers pre-orders for its games, it has yet to confirm whether that will apply to the Front Mission 3 remake. Front Mission 3: Remake Promises Several Improvements
Forever Entertainment’s remake promises several enhancements over the original, including improved graphics and updated animations designed to meet modern standards. A reorchestrated soundtrack will also be part of the package. Another new feature is the Quick Combat mode, which allows players to engage in battles independently of the main story, which consists of two intertwined storylines. New customizable camo options will be included as well. Balance-wise, the remake is expected to deliver an authentic experience true to the original Front Mission 3, which is widely considered to be among the most difficult PS1 strategy games ever made.

Forever Entertainment’s first two Front Mission remakes both received demos, suggesting the upcoming remake of the third mainline entry may follow suit, though this has not been officially confirmed yet. The publisher has likewise not confirmed any non-Nintendo platforms, but its past release patterns suggest additional ports are likely.
