Summary
- Elden Beast is the final challenge in Elden Ring and stands at a towering 85 feet.
- Fire Giant in Elden Ring is one of the most massive enemies, with a shield larger than most.
- The Walking Strider in Armored Core 6 is the largest enemy ever made by FromSoft at 16,400 feet.
Size doesn't always matter in the world of FromSoftware games, as most players will be well aware that many of the most difficult bosses are more or less the size of the player. Still, these games have created some enemies so massive that one must both marvel at their size, then wonder just how big they really are, possibly to imagine a FromSoft version of a gargantuan Pokemon arena where players would see them fight each other off.
Best FromSoftware Games For Newcomers
FromSoftware games are known for being challenging and grueling experiences, but some of them are a bit more newcomer-friendly than others.
Interestingly, however, whereas there are many incredibly huge creatures and machines in this world, there's one far bigger than all others. Let's look into the largest bosses in FromSoftware's history.
9 Elden Beast (Elden Ring)
85 Feet (25 Meters)
Elden Ring
- Released
- February 25, 2022
- Large and grand
The Elden Beast is the final and most mysterious foe players have to fight throughout the entirety of Elden Ring. On top of standing at a towering 85 feet, the Elden Beast has one of the most peculiar creature models in the game, with shiny yellow lights irradiating through its transparent body.
Still, even though it's the final and one of the toughest challenges in the game, the Elden Beast is far from being one of the largest enemies in that game, let alone in FromSoft's now huge library.
8 Fire Giant (Elden Ring)
115 Feet (35 Meters)
- Even his smaller head is huge.
The fire giant that the player has to defeat to set the Erdtree on fire in Elden Ring is one of the most towering enemies in that game. Even when slouching, he's a massive creature whose shield alone is much larger than many of the bigger enemies players will find.
Elden Ring Nightreign: Best Executor Skins To Buy First, Ranked
Elden Ring Nightreign features 5 cool costumes for the Executor, but which of them should players prioritise purchasing first?
He's so large that it's strange that this fight doesn't feature a special mechanic to get to him faster, or one to damage him from afar.
7 Ceaseless Discharge (Dark Souls)
Over 120 feet
Dark Souls
- Released
- September 22, 2011
- ESRB
- M for Mature: Blood and Gore, Partial Nudity, Violence
- Genre(s)
- Action RPG, Soulslike, Adventure
- One of the original Dark Souls' few true giants
Despite it having a rather unfortunate name and a very easy way of defeating, Ceaseless Discharge is, upon first glance, likely the most imposing enemy in the game.
It's not very easy to say just how large he is, considering his very strange frame, and the fact that it's impossible to see his feet -if he has any - but he's at least larger than the other fire giant player would meet in a future FromSoft game.
6 Divine Dragon (Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice)
500 feet (150 meters)
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
- Released
- March 22, 2019
- ESRB
- M for Mature: Blood and Gore, Violence
- Genre(s)
- Action RPG
The Divine Dragon from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a creature so huge that the fight needs to feature a few gimmicks to allow Sekiro to come close to it and get some damage in. On top of being humongous, this dragon and its immense battle arena are likely the most beautiful in the entire game.
Interestingly enough, however, at "just" 500 feet long, the dragon is far from the largest boss in that game, as that distinction belongs to a much more mundane creature that players encounter often earlier in the game.
5 Dragon God (Demon’s Souls)
600 feet (182 meters)
Demon's Souls
- Released
- November 12, 2020
- ESRB
- M for Mature: Blood and Gore, Violence
- Genre(s)
- RPG
- So large he barely even cares
If the Souls series is known for being punishing, then this is the face even the most hardcore of players should associate with said punishment. Players are meant to be killed by a demon at the start of Demon's Souls, but that demon is actually killable.
Those strong enough to kill the game's first boss will then be greeted by the Dragon God, a being so large it'll instantly kill the player not with his fiery breath, but with a regular punch. The Dragon God is so large that players will only be able to kill it via a gimmicky fight.
4 Great Serpent (Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice)
1,525 ft (465 meters)
- Does a great job of making the player feel like a mouse
Even some large enemies tend to go ignored or end up forgotten, but that surely isn't the case with this serpent. Players are sure to never forget about this thing ever since their first unfortunate encounter with it.
Sekiro: Best Boss Order
Sekiro's free-form linear format allows players to choose when to face certain bosses. Here is the best order.
It's incredibly large, and, perhaps just as interestingly, it doesn't seem to suffer from any mutation turning it into some sort of demonic-looking being. It's just a regular-looking snake in all but size. YouTube gaming sleuth Zullie The Witch says the snake is actually even bigger, considering how the model stops before it reaches its tail. That's big enough already, thanks.
3 Ice Worm (Armored Core 6)
4500 feet (1368 meters)
Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon
- Released
- August 25, 2023
- ESRB
- t
- Genre(s)
- Action, Shooter
- The longest and widest snake-like being in FromSoft's history (so far)
FromSoft sure loves its incredibly large dragons and snakes, but an organic snake can only grow so large, even in a completely made-up world filled with magic and deities. That's not a problem in Armored Core 6: Fires Of Rubicon, as it introduces the Ice Worm, one of the longest monsters ever seen in a game.
At 4500 feet, it's nearly three times the size of Sekiro's absurdly large white snake. The Ice Worm is so long and wide that it could swallow Gransax, the big fossilized dragon in Elden Ring's royal capital, like a snake would eat a tiny mouse.
2 Spirit Of Motherwill (Armored Core For Answer)
2000 ft tall (600 meters), 7900 ft (2400 meters)
Armored Core: For Answer

- March 19, 2008
- ESRB
- T
- Genre(s)
- Third-Person Shooter
- It's like fighting an entire Helicarrier from the MCU
And this is where things begin to go beyond ridiculous. Whereas even Armored Core, a series about huge robots battling it out, tended to have players fight against things of their own size, Armored Core For Answer decides to have players fight what looks like a mobile military base.
When compared to the playable mech, this thing looks larger than many cities, and that's a mech, not a human-sized character like what players embody in the non-sci-fi games by FromSoftware. Spirit of Motherwill is just gargantuan.
1 Walking Strider (Armored Core 6: Fires Of Rubicon)
Nearly 16,400 Feet (5,000 Meters) Long
- Larger than a city
- And way more mobile than one
In the end, there really is no competition for the Walking Strider. Whereas the Ice Worm from the same game would easily grind Elden Ring's largest dragon, should it decide to invade the world of Elden Ring, the Walking Strider would occupy nearly half of the Lands Between.
There's a reason why its boss encounter mostly pits players against its eye, which is already way larger than the player's huge mech. The Walking Strider is by far the largest enemy FromSoftware has ever put in a game.
