Like its predecessors in the Forza series, Forza Horizon 5 gives the player plenty of cars to choose from. In fact, it has one of the largest car rosters in the Forza series, with over 400 and counting.

The reasons for each car's appearance are varied. Some of Forza Horizon 5's cars are there because of their impressive real life performance. Others are there becuase they look cool. And some are there to pay tribute to cultural touchstones, like Forza Horizon 5's use of the DeLorean.

Similarly, Forza Horizon 5 brings back the Toyota Trueno AE86, a car made internationally famous by the racing anime Initial D. It's one of the game's rarer cars, but there are multiple ways to get it.

Earning the AE86 Through Wheelspins

As the player goes through Forza Horzon 5's progression systems, such as spending skill points, they'll earn complimentary Wheelspins. Wheelspins and Super Wheelspins are Forza's Gacha-like reward system, There are multiple types of rewards, such as clothing and credits. If the player is really lucky they'll win a rare car, like the AE86.

Earning the AE86 Through the Auction House

Even if the players' Wheelspins aren't giving them cars, they can still put the credits and other rewards they earned to good use in the Auction House. The Auction House is a community feature in Forza Horizon 5 that lets players bid against each other for cars. They'll need to check frequently, but players might stumble upon an AE86 auction. They should note that, since the car is hard to find, they'll need to save up plenty of Forza Horizon 5's credits in advance.

Earning the AE86 Through the Series 1 Challenge

Thanks to its live-service game elements, Forza Horizon 5 regularly goes through timed events where players can earn points to unlock special cars. Most relevant is the Series 1 Spring Hot Season event, which has the AE86 as a prize. It begins on December 2, and ends a week later on December 9.

If the player misses this event, they shouldn't feel too defeated. These events will be in regular rotation, so it's likely the AE86 will appear again at some point in the future.

Earning the AE86 Through a Gift Drop

This is the least likely method, but one that players should still keep an eye out for. Forza Horizon 5 lets players gift excess cars to other players, whether they know them or not. It's unlikely that someone will send off one of their rarer cars, but it doesn't hurt to check.

Forza Horizon 5 is available now for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
