Summary
- Forza Horizon 3's online services continue despite the game being delisted in 2020.
- A community manager confirmed the servers were rebooted after players reported certain unavailable features, reaffirming Playground Games' commitment to maintaining online services.
- Forza Horizon 5 recently set a new milestone, accumulating over 40 million players since its launch in 2021.
Forza Horizon 3’s online services have received a new lease of life recently, despite the game being delisted, and fans are pleased Playground Games is committed to maintaining those features. Shortly after being delisted, online services for the original Forza Horizon game and Forza Horizon 2 were permanently terminated, and the community believed Forza Horizon 3’s multiplayer would follow suit. Luckily, a savior figure from Playground’s team recently assured fans the online features were alive and kicking.
The Forza franchise got off to a racing start in 2005 with the original Forza Motorsport, followed by the first Forza Horizon game that debuted in 2012. The most recent title in the Forza franchise Forza Horizon 5 cooked up some controversy regarding The Game Awards 2024, after the racing game was left out of the Best Ongoing Game category. The fifth main entry has provided more post-launch content than any other game in the series and a host of notable updates, including the Hide and Seek multiplayer mode.
Rumor: One of the Best Xbox Games Could Be Coming to PS5
A new rumor suggests that one of the best Xbox games could be coming to PlayStation 5, with no date given at the moment.
Posted on Reddit by JoaoPaulo3k, a screenshot of another post asking “Is this the end of Forza 3?” Was posted in the Forza subreddit. The player was unable to access certain features and the community was worried a termination of online services was on the way. Thankfully, Playground’s senior community manager was named a “saint” for replying to racers’ concerns and assured players that the servers had been rebooted. Forza Horizon 3 entered its “End of Life” status in 2020, which meant the base game and its DLC would no longer be available to purchase from the Microsoft Store.
Forza Horizon 3's Online Services Endure Despite Game Being Delisted
Forza fans also met a tough blow last year, when Forza Horizon 4 was delisted in December 2024, despite becoming a huge success and accumulating over 24 million players since its launch in 2018. However, it’s uplifting to see Playground respond to online issues and general worries concerning Forza Horizon 3 so promptly, and the community manager also highlighted a positive response in terms of traffic after the servers were rebooted.
Three years after its debut, Forza Horizon 5 hit a new milestone last year by hosting an influx of over 40 million players since its arrival in 2021. The open-world racer has now become one of Xbox’s most successful games in history, and fans are already looking forward to the next title, which will presumably be called Forza Horizon 6. The player base has been asking for a Japan setting for a long time, and it’s entirely possible Playground is quietly planning the successor while finalizing the anticipated Fable title.
