'Tis the season to play some Fortnite. Epic Games has officially rolled out this year's in-game holiday event, Winterfest, which offers up plenty of goodies for all the good gamer boys and girls. Especially on the heels of the hotly anticipated Star Wars live-event that just concluded, now is the perfect time to unwind some nice, wintery fun.

Winterfest, which will last until January 2, is offering up holiday themed challenges, weapons, and costumes – some of which are free to collect. For 14 days, Fortnite is offering up daily free gifts to players who unwrap that at the lodge, with a seven gifts outlined already.

Unwrapping Free Gifts

Alongside holiday themed cosmetics and a leaked holiday-themed snow covered map, Fortnite has even updated the home screen to feature a wintery lodge. This lodge is going to be the method that players need to use to unwrap their daily free gifts. Thankfully, for players who have missed any of the daily presents, the lodge will be available until January 7, meaning players can head there until then to pick up any of the gifts they may have missed out on.

Simply head to the home screen after booting up Fortnite, and head to the lodge. While players are on the home screen they’ll have to move over to the snowflake-shaped tab at the top of the screen. From there, players will notice a prompt that will allow them to head straight inside the lodge to unwrap their free gifts. On top of that, Winterfest themed challenges are offered until January 6.

What Gifts to Expect

As for what players can expect from the free gifts they’ll be opening, Epic Games has vaguely teased some of them so far. On the official website, Epic Games says players can expect two outfits, two pickaxes, two wraps, two gliders, and one emote for certain. However, that only totals to seven gifts, with another seven left as surprises.

However, some recent datamines and leaks might hint at what Winterfest has to offer to players. The leaked costumes includes Frozen Fishsticks and holiday sweaters, among other things. Additionally, many holiday themed gliders and pickaxes leaked that might peak players interest in Winterfest 2019.

Though Winterfest 2019 comes right after the massively popular Star Wars event, which over 3.1 million viewers watched live, it’s still a nice little event to celebrate the holiday season. Hopefully Fortnite players get exactly what they asked for this year through the game’s 14 days of free presents.
