When Is Midas Returning to Fortnite?

One of the most iconic Fortnite characters will be returning to the game once the next patch goes live. Over the years, Fortnite lore has deepened a fair bit, and gamers have come to know the background stories of several of its characters. Some stand out more than others, and there is no doubt that Midas is an ultimate fan-favorite.

Although there has been speculation that Midas died in a Loot Shark attack when Chapter 2 Season 3 launched, he is ascending from The Underworld and making his way back to Fortnite. This guide will tell players everything they need to know about Midas's return to the Battle Royale's storyline.

When Will Ascendant Midas be Available in Fortnite

Midas is making a comeback to Fortnite as Ascendant Midas. According to dataminers, he will ascend from The Underworld where he has been trapped. It is likely that players will be able to find Midas inside The Marigold once he returns, as he will surely want to return to his yacht. To find The Marigold in Fortnite, gamers must visit the western coast of the island, near Charon's Crossing and Coastal Columns.

Leakers have indicated that Ascendant Midas will be available as an NPC in Fortnite at first, and gamers will be able to defeat him to get their hands on his golden Mythic-rarity Drum Gun. Ascendant Midas will surely become available in the Item Shop at a later date. However, it is unknown whether he will be a featured skin or available in the Special Offers & Bundles sections so gamers can purchase him with real money.

What to Expect From Update v29.01

Update v29.01 will be the first update of Chapter 5 Season 2, and it is bringing tons of new content to the game. The previously announced Gold Chicken will become available on the Battle Royale map, and gamers will be able to eliminate this creature to receive gold bars. The Floor is Lava, a fan-favorite limited-time mode, will return to Fortnite, and since Midas will be the one introducing it, gamers can complete quests in this mode to receive themed rewards, such as the Gilded Vengeance harvesting tool.

Midas's comeback will impact vending machines; some will include upgrade services that can turn weapons into gold (Legendary-rarity.) Even though the Mythic version of the Drum Gun will be a reward for taking down Midas, gamers will also be able to acquire the standard Drum Gun as floor loot and by searching containers.

Fortnite update v29.01 is coming out on Tuesday, March 19, so downtime starts at 4 AM ET and matchmaking will be disabled shortly before so the patch can go live a couple of hours later.
