Summary
- Epic Games has nerfed War Machine's Hover Jets in Fortnite for the fourth time.
- The latest nerf reduces the amount of fuel and boosts available while flying.
- Fans appear to be divided over the latest nerf, with much of the community angered by the adjustments.
Epic Games has once again nerfed Fortnite's War Machine's Hover Jets, marking the fourth nerf to be made to the popular Marvel-themed item. Following the latest balance adjustment, the jets will now have less fuel and boosts while flying, but the Fortnite community isn't happy about the latest round of nerfs.
With the launch of Chapter 5 Season 4: Absolute Doom, Epic Games added a plethora of new Marvel-themed items to Fortnite. One of the many new additions for the season was War Machine's Hover Jets, which allows users to hover in the sky for a short period of time. The item was accompanied by a plethora of other weapons and cosmetics, such as Captain America's Shield, Doom's Arcane Gauntlets, War Machine's Arsenal, and more.
Fortnite Is Getting Its Own PS5 Controller
Sony announces a new collaboration with Epic Games during the State of Play event which brings an all-new Fortnite-themed PS5 controller.
After Fortnite nerfed War Machine's Hover Jets back in August, Epic Games is back with another round of nerfs, much to the displeasure of the community. Over on the official Fortnite Status Twitter account, the studio confirmed that some new balance adjustments to Battle Royale and Zero Build had been made. War Machine's Hover Jets now have less fuel and boosts while flying, while Iron Man's Combat Kit does less damage to players, no longer deals bonus headshot damage, and requires more precise aim and closer distance to lock on.
Fortnite Fans Unhappy With Latest Nerf
Over on Reddit, the reception to Fortnite's controversial balance update has been met with mixed results. While many believe War Machine's Hover Jets didn't need another nerf, there are still some players who think it was warranted. Reddit user Em1Wii suggests that the item should now be more common to find, as they are currently a rarity in the game's loot pool. Other users, such as PresentEuphoric2216, responded to the nerf by calling the Chapter 5 Season 4 update the "worst season of the chapter." They went on to say that Season 4 is "not a fun season" and that they are happy to be taking a break from the game.
While there is clearly a plethora of fans unhappy with the decisions being made by Epic Games, the studio has continued to release plenty of new Marvel-themed content for the current season. Following the massive success of the film, Fortnite added a new Deadpool and Wolverine emote that mimics the choreography of NSYNC's Bye Bye Bye music video. The emote was released on September 24 and can be purchased from the in-game item store for 500 V-Bucks.
But for fans who are sick and tired of all the Marvel content, the Halloween season does mean that Epic Games will once again be releasing a new Fortnitemares event for 2024. The horrifying event is expected to bring a plethora of collaborations to the item store, including a leaked crossover with one of horror's biggest franchises, Saw.
