- Epic is planning even more Fortnite price adjustments "around the world" in order to respond to changing macroeconomic trends, such as inflation and currency fluctuations.
Fortnite V-Bucks are set to become more expensive in October 2024. The newly announced change will affect Fortnite players in half a dozen countries across three continents.
The price of the virtual currency used in Epic's hit battle royale shooter has been relatively stable since the game's early days. And while some fluctuations did happen over the years, they were usually limited to specific platforms, countries, or both. In one of the most recent examples of this trend, Fortnite's V-Bucks increased in price on PC and consoles in October 2023.
Fortnite Announces ~20% V-Bucks Price Hike for 6 Countries
Another price hike has now been announced for six countries spanning three continents. In a September 10 blog post, Epic revealed that Fortnite's V-Bucks will soon become more expensive in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Nigeria, Vietnam, and the Philippines. The company cited changes in macroeconomic trends, including inflation and general currency fluctuations, as the reason for its newly announced decision. This regional price hike for Fortnite's V-Bucks is scheduled to go into effect on October 14. The changes amount to a roughly 20% increase, depending on the country.

Fortnite Content Packs Are Also Getting More Expensive
As part of the same move, Epic is also planning to ramp up the prices of Fortnite content packs by a similar percentage. This change will be limited to the aforementioned six countries, with the developer noting that all future content packs will also be more expensive than their predecessors were as a result of the adjustments. The Fortnite Crew subscription will be unaffected by the incoming wave of price hikes.

More Fortnite Price Hikes Are Planned 'Around the World'
If Epic's past pricing adjustments are any indication, these newly announced changes won't require taking the game offline for maintenance, as the developer should be able to implement them from the server side. The exact time for when the new prices will go into effect on October 14 hasn't been announced. But what Epic did say is that these won't be the last of Fortnite price hikes in the foreseeable future. "We plan to make pricing adjustments around the world on a more regular basis," a company representative wrote, framing these changes as also geared toward responding to various macroeconomic developments the world over.
We plan to make pricing adjustments around the world on a more regular basis.
It is currently unclear when these additional pricing adjustments might see the light of day, or how many countries they will encompass. Back in 2023, the prices of Fortnite V-Bucks went up in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Norway, Turkey, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the entire European Union.
