Summary
- Fortnite's new Star Wars content will be available starting on Friday, May 16, instead of Thursday, May 15.
- Galactic Battle, a mini-season, will end on June 7 after 36 days.
- Fans anticipated the next update on Thursday, but they will have to wait a little longer to see what all it includes.
The next Fortnite update was delayed by a full day, meaning players will only be able to experience the new Star Wars content coming to the game on Friday, May 16, rather than Thursday, May 15. When Chapter 6 Season 2 ended, Season 3 did not start as initially expected. Instead, Fortnite made way for Galactic Battle, a Star Wars mini-season, which will be live for only 36 days - ending on June 7.
In the past, Season OG and Chapter 2 Remix were the only seasons that were this short. However, Epic Games handled them quite differently. Since Epic wanted gamers to relive the various seasons of the first Fortnite chapters with the OG seasons, it had to pump out content regularly but steadily. Therefore, the content always felt fresh, so fans were kept entertained, and there was never a dull moment. While Galactic Battle started on a high note with all sorts of quests, exciting weapons, and fun mechanics, it grew stale for some players quickly because they experienced most of what it had to give within the first couple of days.
Fortnite Leaks Hint at Anakin Joining the Game as a Boss NPC
There are rumors of another hostile boss coming to Fortnite in the near future, which aligns with other leaks that mention Anakin Skywalker's return.
Most gamers were particularly looking forward to the upcoming patch on Thursday for all the content that it promised to give them. Unfortunately, it seems that fans will have to wait an additional 24 hours for it to drop, as it has been delayed until Friday. It is currently unknown why the update was pushed back, but on the bright side, besides having tons of content to explore once servers are back, players will also be able to jump into The Walking Dead Creators Islands, which can be published as of May 16 at 9 AM ET.
When Does Downtime Start for the Next Fortnite Update?
- Friday, May 16, most likely around 2 AM ET
Besides the two dry weeks, fans were also looking forward to this update due to the various leaks that have come out in the past few days. Currently, there are rumors of two Jar Jar Binks skins coming to Fortnite, that Anakin might appear on the island as a boss, and that the custom Mandalorian cosmetic should become available soon.
Not only will players have to wait to confirm if their most anticipated leaks are true or not, but they will also have to stand by an additional day to start making progress towards unlocking the General Grievous skin in Fortnite. General Grievous is the bonus skin in the Galactic Battle Pass, so even though he will be available for everyone who owns the Battle Royale season pass, he's unlockable through quests which are usually released halfway through the season.
