Fortnite has teamed up with the Houseparty app to give players some in-game rewards. If Houseparty App users can guess some answers to Fortnite trivia, they'll get sweet loot for Fortnite.
Epic games, the creator of Fortnite, purchased the Houseparty app. About a month after Epic games announced a $1 million reward for proof of a security smear campaign against the app's security, it announced some new crossover events in an effort to get people interested in the app. So fans of Epic should brush up on their Fortnite history and get ready to answer some questions.
In a series of back and forth tweets, the Houseparty Twitter and Fortnite Twitter announced that the two are working together to give Fortnite fans some extra incentives to use the video chat app. After Houseparty announced it had created a Fortnite trivia deck for fans to answer questions, the two announced a contest. If Fortnite fans can answer a collective 20 million questions correctly in the Houseparty App by April 16th, everyone in Fortnite will be rewarded. It's a great way for fans to say #ThankYouEpicGames with their support.
The Houseparty app is designed for video chatting while answering trivia on Chrome, macOS, or other mobile devices. Users can play party games together while hanging out online, which is a great thing for a lot of users right now who are locked inside because of coronavirus lockdowns. So in a sense this is a great thing for Fortnite fans that really want to connect to friends and also like trivia.
However, in spite of great crossovers like Deadpool and a possible Tiger King skin coming, Fortnite doesn't seem to be doing as well as Epic Games would like it to be. Revenue is down from the millions that Epic made in 2018, and although players came back in droves for the new season, players seem to be leaving for different Battle Royale games like Warzone and PUBG.
Can this strange crossover event help to save Fortnite? Famous Fortnite streamers like SypherPK and Ninja have other ideas for what could save Fortnite. But only time will tell if those changes are ones that Epic is willing to make or if they would save this dwindling Battle Royale game from monotony.
Fortnite is available for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Android, iOS, Microsoft Windows, and Macintosh operating systems.
