Fortnite just brought back a rare hero skin that hasn't been available to players since 2020 — Trench Raider. The shop in Fortnite brought in a lot of new and returning skins and other items for the start of September, but none has had as long of a hiatus as Trench Raider .
Trench Raider, whose base character model is Hector, was first introduced to Fortnite fans as a featured skin on November 16, 2019, as part of Chapter 2, Season 1. He was brought back for a brief revival on January 18, 2020, and hasn't been back until this recent reappearance on September 1, 2024, leaving a gap of 1,688 days — a little over four and a half years — between appearances. This infrequency of availability in the shop has led him to be listed among the rarest Fortnite skins in 2024.
Fortnite Fans Are Calling for a New Emma Frost Style
Fortnite fans suggest an addition to Emma Frost that could improve the X-Men villain’s appearance in the popular battle royale game.
The current item shop lists Trench Raider under its Signature Styles section, where his look is selling for 1,200 V-Bucks until September 1 at about 8 p.m. EST. A Fortnite skin leak from about a week ago correctly predicted this skin's return to the shop, along with Bravo Leader, who made an appearance on August 30 after more than three years away. Part of the Fathoms Deep set, the Trench Raider skin sports a futuristic black and gray bodysuit with yellow accents, a couple of pouches for holding small, bladed weapons, and a communications headpiece. Since Fortnite started leaning more heavily into collaborations and crossover characters in Chapter 2, original character skins like Trench Raider can provide players with a more generic but immersive look that lets them build their own backstory around it.
Trench Raider Returns to Fortnite after More Than 4 Years
Along with Trench Raider, players are able to pick up his Rare Fortnite Backpack, Torpedo Tank, a yellow metal pack that matches his style, complete with mini-harpoons to match those in the pouch attached to his hip. Thanks to the launch of LEGO Fortnite in December 2023, a lot of fans of the franchise are getting their first good look at a LEGO-styled version of Trench Raider as well, featuring a similar outfit but in much more adorable proportions and sporting a couple of rubber duckies decals on his bodysuit.
Trench Raider and Bravo Leader aren't the only Fortnite skins to make recent appearances after a long time away. Just last week, the Mogul Master pack featuring an alpine skiing skin returned, giving players access to an outfit that they hadn't been able to acquire in the Fortnite shop for more than 500 days.
