  • Epic Games actively combats cheating, recently filed a lawsuit against a player using software.

Fortnite is suing an unnamed competitive player for cheating in its tournaments. However, as per the court filings found by the community, it seems like the alleged player is Sebastian Araujo, who has had quite a bit of success in Fortnite tournaments lately.

Apart from adding some enticing collaborations, Fortnite has also cemented its place as one of the most popular competitive shooters in the past few years. The developers also actively introduce enhancements to improve the overall experience for competitive players. For instance, earlier this year, Fortnite removed vehicles from its Ranked mode, alongside a plethora of other changes. This change was widely well-received by the community, considering the increased dominance of vehicles in the game. Now, Epic Games has made yet another decision that will discourage players from cheating in Fortnite.

The post states that Fortnite is filing a lawsuit against a player for allegedly cheating in its tournaments. Additionally, it is also stated that the player reportedly used software and hardware to cheat, and even had multiple accounts to reduce the chances of getting caught. Epic Games Sues Fortnite Player Sabortian For Cheating

While the post doesn't mention the player in question, it seems like the community has discovered who the player is. As per official court filings, the player is Sebastian 'Sabortian' Araujo. The player's Liquipedia page was also updated recently, and the player's current status has been updated to banned. The player seems to have been quite successful in recent Fortnite tournaments, with total winnings of $1300 in September of this year alone. The player also got a podium finish in five out of six tournaments they played in September this year. Their total tournament prize winnings for the year 2024 is about $3,900 as per Liquipedia stats.

Apparently, the player used both aimbots and wallhacks to gain an unfair edge over their opponents. Both of these are some of the most common forms of cheating used in multiplayer shooters, allowing cheaters to automatically lock their aim to opponents and spot them through walls. Fortnite has set a benchmark for anti-cheat in shooting games, and this incident is just a testament to the developer's vision for creating a level playing field for the community.
