Summary
- The Tart Tycoon skin from the #FreeFortnite event is rumored to return to Fortnite.
- The skin initially given away in 2020 may reappear before May 7.
- A leak claims there will be an opportunity to claim the rare skin in a tournament celebrating Fortnite's iOS return.
Epic Games released an Apple-inspired skin for the #FreeFortnite event back in 2020, and a leak has pointed towards the possibility of this rare skin making a comeback to Fortnite before the end of Galactic Battle. Fortnite made its first appearance on mobile devices back in 2018, and it was a hit among the community. While Fortnite mobile didn't include some of the features seen on consoles and PC, such as Save the World, and had clunky controls at first, players were just happy to have the option to play it, and it was also greatly improved over time.
Unfortunately, Fortnite was removed from mobile devices in 2020 due to issues with tax on in-app payments. This was eventually solved in court, but gamers had to wait four years, and it remained off of Apple devices in the US for a while longer. At the start of May, it was announced that Fortnite would soon come back to iOS devices in the United States, but this was unexpectedly pushed back, as Apple ignored Epic's submission of the Fortnite app to delay its return.
Fortnite Teases New Gameplay Mechanic
A recent roadmap update reveals information on an upcoming gameplay mechanic that could be game-changing for Fortnite players once it's live.
It took a couple of extra weeks, but the issue has finally been solved, and fans can now play Fortnite on iOS devices in the US. Some gamers expected quests and free cosmetics to celebrate this event, and according to HYPEX, a known leaker, the Tart Tycoon skin will probably be making a return to Fortnite following this bump in the road. While there were previous rumors of the Tart Tycoon outfit coming back to Fortnite, HYPEX now says that it will still be made available this season.
Tart Tycoon Could Release Before the End of Fortnite Galactic Battle
- Rumored to release before May 7
Gamers will supposedly have the opportunity to acquire the Tart Tycoon skin for free in a tournament. However, it is interesting that this is the skin that Epic Games might choose to celebrate this major event, as it was initially given away during the #FreeFortnite campaign after the incident between Epic Games and Apple. This could be a jab at Apple for trying to prevent Fortnite from making it onto the App Store even after the court ruled in favor of Epic Games.
The Tart Tycoon has not been available since 2020, making it one of the rarest skins in Fortnite. Naturally, some fans were upset to learn that the skin would become less exclusive and demanded an "OG style". It wouldn't be surprising if Epic Games granted them their request, as many returning cosmetics have received additional styles exclusive to veterans who bought them early on. Players who want to take advantage of this second opportunity to acquire the skin should keep an eye out on Fortnite's Compete tab in-game, as it is rumored to come back before Galactic Battle ends on May 7.
