A Galaxy Far Far Away is coming to Fortnite yet again, as a careful glance through the game files reveals that a few Star Wars characters will be featuring as Fortnite skins in the famous online shooter. The recent Update 24.20 added Attack on Titan content to Fortnite, allowing players to unlock Eren Yeager, Captain Levi, and Mikasa Ackermann as part of Chapter 4, Season 2. In addition to cosmetics, the update introduced several items inspired by Attack on Titan, and the expectation is that the upcoming Star Wars content will do the same.Star Wars has been a frequent crossover partner for Fortnite over the years, famously announcing Palpatine's return through a special Fortnite event that ran close to the premiere of Episode IX. From Darth Vader to Boba Fett, from stormtrooper blaster rifles to Jedi lightsabers, Fortnite certainly doesn't lack in Star Wars cosmetics. But for such a long-lived brand filled to the brim with rich lore and diverse characters, there's always something new to be added, especially when one considers the Star Wars content coming in 2023. Fortnite insider and dataminer ShiinaBR shared that the two upcoming skins were codenamed CirrusVine and PlotTwist, with a follow-up tweet explaining that they weren't yet sure which specific Star Wars characters were set to make their Fortnite debut. Both skins feature a back bling, pickaxe, glider, and wrap, with PlotTwist also coming with an emote. Given the impending release of Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, as well as the finale of The Mandalorian Season 3, there are several expected options that the crossover will introduce.
Namely, it is speculated that the two upcoming characters will be Cal Kestis from the Star Wars: Jedi series, as well as either Moff Gideon or Grand Admiral Thrawn to generate excitement for the Ahsoka series coming in August 2023. It is important to remember that Fortnite has made no official reveals yet, meaning that these characters haven't been confirmed to feature in the crossover.
Fortnite shifted to Unreal Engine 5 in Chapter 4, and Season 2 continues to utilize its technology to bring the Cyberpunk 2077 inspired MEGA City to life. Stunning visuals, a steady stream of content, and a tried-and-true content loop have kept Fortnite relevant, and its popularity still remains a source of envy for its competitors. Though it's too soon to tell what Season 3 will bring to Fortnite, for now players can look towards May 4 as the most likely release date of these Star Wars mystery cosmetics.
Fortnite is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
