A recent rumor from Fortnite is hinting at a new skin coming to the game in the near future, adding Pirates of the Caribbean's Jack Sparrow to the battle royale. Since the release of the Epic Games shooter in 2017, the mega-popular battle royale has featured a plethora of crossover content. From video games like The Elder Scrolls and Resident Evil to beloved film and TV characters like Spider-Man and Darth Vader, Epic Games has constantly added new media properties to the shooter. Now, the captain of The Black Pearl may be next to join the game.
Fortnite's recent Chapter 5 saw plenty of major new additions added to the game, alongside crossover content like Family Guy's Peter Griffin. Epic Games would introduce multiple new modes to the game during Chapter 5, including LEGO Fortnite as a Minecraft-like survival game and teaming up with Harmonix for rhythm game Fortnite Festival. Fortnite also made major changes to its core battle royale gameplay, making changes to sprinting and running while bringing back mechanics like hurdling. Now, the game's next crossover might have been leaked.
Rumor: Fortnite Might Be Crossing Over With a Popular Indie Game
A recent rumor suggests that one of Fortnite's next crossovers may be with a beloved roguelike indie game, according to the game's creator.
As reported by ComicBook, a recent episode of the popular XboxEra Podcast may have revealed Pirates of the Caribbean as one of Fortnite's next crossovers. According to insider Nick Baker, iconic captain Jack Sparrow is planned to be added to Fortnite as an in-game skin. Baker did stress that the addition of Jack Sparrow likely will not be immediate, expecting the skin to come later on in the future. Epic Games has not made any official statement about a potential Pirates of the Caribbean crossover to come within Fortnite.
Leaks Tease Captain Jack Sparrow Fortnite Skin
Jack Sparrow's inclusion in Fortnite would be far from the first time a franchise under the Disney umbrella has appeared within Fortnite. Epic Games has frequently featured Marvel characters within the battle royale including the previously mentioned Spider-Man, the other members of The Avengers, and Deadpool among others. Both of Lucasfilm's biggest franchises have also been regularly featured in Fortnite, with multiple skins based on Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Disney's own first-party properties have even appeared within the game, adding The Nightmare Before Christmas' Jack Skellington.
While Epic Games has yet to officially comment on a Pirates of the Caribbean collaboration, Fortnite reportedly has plenty of other crossovers on the way. Fortnite recently debuted its highly-anticipated Metal Gear Solid crossover, introducing skins based on Solid Snake and Raiden. The debut of Chapter 5 also saw the beloved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise join the game, with leaks suggesting main villain Shredder may be coming to Fortnite soon. Jack Sparrow's rumored inclusion will join the massive roster of crossover skins within the beloved battle royale.
