Fortnite is rolling out its latest update today, adding new and tweaking existing content to the game. Among the changes made with the newest update, the biggest one is the addition of an all-new combat class weapon, the Combat Pistol.

Epic Games' ever-popular free-to-play battle royale title is now entering the last month of its Season 8. The game has recently made headlines for its apparent removal of the Travis Scott emote from its Item Shop following the tragic deaths at the artist's Astroworld festival. Scott's "Out West" emote was due up for Fortnite's "Daily" section, something Epic intentionally disabled beforehand.

Where to find the Combat Pistol in Fortnite

Fortnite's latest hotfix for its v18.30 update introduces the new Combat Pistol weapon. The never-before-seen pistol bears similar characteristics as its Combat Assault Rifle counterpart, boasting a tight bullet spread, burst fire, and a high rate of damage. Unfortunately, also like the Combat Assault Rifle, the Combat Pistol has a strong recoil, meaning it'll take an excellent marksman to use it to its full potential. The Combat Pistol is available in the full range of rarities, and can be found around the entire island as floor loot, in chests, or by fishing.

It should be noted that the Combat Pistol entirely replaces the regular Pistol, which has been vaulted. The Fortnite v18.30 hotfix also makes some changes to another weapon, the Sideways Rifle. Acquired by entering the Sideways, the Sideways Rifle is a mid-to-long range weapon which works on a cooldown system rather than using traditional ammo. The update enhances the weapon's "superpowered" state when its close to overheating, which adds a 1.5 damage multiplier. Sideways Rifles now reach the state faster and maintain it for longer, while also increasing accuracy.

It would seem that Fortnite has been on a bit of a weapon-modifying streak as of late. In addition to introducing the new Combat variants of established weapons during Season 8, Epic Games has also unvaulted the Grappler alongside its new Icy Grappler variant. The key difference between the Icy Grappler and the original is players get their feet frozen after use, making them even more of an elusive target after landing. Its curious to see that Fortnite decided to vault the regular pistol, despite keeping the original versions of the other Season 8 weapons unvaulted.

With a DPS ranging from 155.25 to 189, and an impressive fire rate of 6.75, the Combat Pistol is sure to become a favorite amongst some of Fortnite's player base. The player base in China at least will only have a few days to test it out however, as Chinese Fortnite servers will shut down on November 15.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
