It may be hard to believe after all of the extensive waiting, but Season 3 of Fortnite has finally arrived. The game’s Chapter 2 phase has seen its biggest shakeup yet, covering the battle royale map in water and swapping out Season 2’s mix of spies and Deadpool with a more summer-themed mix of floating islands, rideable sharks, and Aquaman. There’s a lot of new stuff for players to dive into, and like with any new season, much of that is tied to Season 3’s new Battle Pass.
Once again, players can start unlocking a steady stream of new cosmetic items while they fight it out with each other and take on Season 3’s other slew of new challenges. As always, this one can be purchased for 950 V-Bucks, or roughly $10. Additionally, players also have the option of splurging on the Battle Pass Bundle for 2,500 V-Bucks ($25), which instantly unlocks the first 25 tiers and grants immediate access to another character skin.
A new trailer released alongside Season 3’s debut trailer shows off some of these skins and items in greater detail. Highlights include new skins like the tattooed engineer Jules, the bike-mech-driving kitten Kit, and, of course, Aquaman. What’s more, the trailer reveals that players can now create a customized Umbrella glider through a new “Build-A-Brella” system that lets them mix and match a wide selection of parts that can be unlocked as they grind out the Battle Pass.
In keeping with the trend of Fortnite's previous Battle Passes, players who complete the new Pass can also earn 1,500 V-Bucks, effectively negating the real-world money spent on it. Aside from that and their own unique custom Umbrella, the rewards in the Battle Pass consists of:
- 7 skins
- 7 emotes
- 7 emoticons
- 8 gliders
- 3 music tracks
- 10 loading screens
- 7 pickaxes
- 5 contrails
- 6 back bling
- 7 sprays
- 7 banners
- 6 weapon wraps
Players will have plenty of opportunities to unlock these throughout the fresh slate of daily and weekly challenges that will come to Fortnite throughout Season 3. It should be noted, though, that Season 3 is officially slated to wrap up on August 26 (assuming this season doesn’t see delays like Chapter 2’s previous seasons have), so players may want to get started if they want to complete the whole thing before then.
Fortnite is free-to-play on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
