Reality Augments are one of the new mechanics in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1, and they're a hit with the community. Throughout a Fortnite match, players will have the opportunity to unlock up to four Reality Augments; each Augment has its own perks and can be used to the player's advantage.

Players get to either choose between two Augment options or spend 100 gold bars and reroll for a chance to pick from two other options. What makes this a balanced mechanic is the fact that it's up to chance, and there's not really a way to exploit it constantly to make it feel broken. This guide will focus on a few Reality Augments in particular that grant the ability to gain health and shields, and it'll also show players the best way to use them during a match.

How To Restore Health And Shields With Reality Augments

restoring health inside a bush

Whether the player doesn't want to take up inventory space with consumables or simply can't find more of them around, it's always useful to choose at least one Reality Augment that regenerates health somehow.

Here are four Reality Augments that regenerate health instantly - three of which were recently added with a new update. All of these Reality Augments can be used in the Week 7 quest that requires players to gain health with Augments:

  • Shotgun Striker (Combat): The Shotgun Striker regenerates health by siphoning it from opponents after the user successfully hits them with their shotgun.
  • Rarity Check (Game Changer): The Rarity Check makes it so players siphon health from other opponents if they eliminate them.
  • Bush Warrior (Mobility & Scouting): The Bush Warrior is one of the best Reality Augments when it comes to quickly gaining health or shields. This Augment makes it so if the player is low on health, they'll regain it slowly while inside large bushes.
  • Danger Hero (Mobility & Scouting): If Danger Hero is activated, the player will regenerate health for a short period of time after their shield has been broken.

There are three Reality Augments that can help players regain health and shields during a match but indirectly, which means they can't be used in the Week 7 quest. Nevertheless, they are still useful for this same purpose.

  • Chug Gunner (Game Changer): When the player activates this perk, they will receive a Chug Cannon, which can be used regularly to restore health and shields throughout the match.
  • Splash Medic (Looting): Each time the player opens a container, there's a chance that they'll find Chug Splash inside.
  • Jelly Angler (Looting): The player is given a fishing rod that can be used to fish anywhere, and each time they catch a fish, it'll be a Jellyfish - a fish that works just like the Chug Splash.

Fortnite is available for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
