Leaks suggest that Reality Augments might return to Fortnite before the next update, which is bound to mix things up in the competitive scene. November was certainly different for Fortnite fans. After years of asking for the return of the OG map, players finally got to experience it once again thanks to the release of Season OG. That season went live at the end of Chapter 4 and ended a month later in order to make way for Chapter 5.

Reality Augments were introduced at the start of Chapter 4, and they were a hit among most of the community. In each match, players got to activate up to four Reality Augments. They could choose between two random options or re-roll for 100 gold bars; each option provided a unique advantage that could help players survive longer. Unfortunately, since they weren't available until years after the game's release, they had to be removed for Season OG, and to the surprise of many fans, they weren't unvaulted when Chapter 5 went live. According to iFireMonkey, Reality Augments will return for Fortnite's Week 3 Weekly Quests, which will go live on December 19 at 9 AM ET.

When Will Reality Augments Return to Fortnite?

  • Tuesday, December 19, 9 AM ET

Game files indicate that players will be tasked with activating 15 Reality Augments as part of Week 3's quests, and this can't be done if they're still vaulted before their release. Gamers were aware that Reality Augments would return this season, as one of the Chapter 5 Season 1 Milestone Quests in Fortnite required players to activate Reality Augments. This quest had a "Coming Soon" note next to it, so it was only a matter of time before Augments were re-enabled.

The Fortnite competitive scene will certainly change once Reality Augments return to the game. Gamers will gain access to dozens of abilities, skills, and unique weapons that they can only obtain if they activate certain Augments. On top of this, gamers will have to worry about farming gold in Fortnite once again, as they need it if they want to be able to re-roll their Augment choices.
