10 Sunfall Scythe

Exclusive to V-Bucks Purchases in Japan

The Sunfall Scythe is a rare addition to Fortnite since it's one of the only pickaxes that aren't available through challenges or the Item Shop. Instead, players can only get the Sunfall Scythe if they were active in Japan in October 2023, as they would be able to use Yen to purchase V-Bucks Cards, where redeeming any V-Bucks card in Japan would grant this now-unavailable Pickaxe.

9 Pow Pow Crusher & Piltover Warden Hammer

No Deal Between Riot and Epic Means No Arcane Pickaxes

The Pow Pow Crusher & Piltover Warden Hammer were the Pickaxes for the Arcane collab, which saw Fortnite celebrate the beloved Netflix series that gave deeper lore to the League of Legends characters. While this collab was a fun way to promote Arcane from Riot Games, it also amassed a large following that saw more players demand these items as Season 2 rolled around. Sadly, it seems that this is another collab set that's damned to be absent forever, as the Co-founder of Riot Games, Marc Merrill, has made it quite clear that there are no plans to work with Epic Games on bringing these items back.

8 Lucky Lance

For Chapter 3 Season 3's Rebuild the Block Quests

Lucky Lance is a cute but weird Pickaxe, and if players hit it enough times, the head will break to reveal an egg inside. This effect is truly unique to the Lucky Lance, and sadly, it's a Pickaxe that most players might have missed. Lucky Lance was a Chapter 3 Season 3 Pickaxe, where players needed to exchange Gold to vote on new builds for Tilted Towers during the Rebuild the Block Quests. After completing 7 of these quests, this Pickaxe would be gifted to your locker, but it's been years since this event ended.

7 Qwerty Axe

Just for Those Who Completed 9 Island Games Quests in 2021

The Qwerty Axe is a cute keyboard on a stick that players could use as a Pickaxe, but it was only available during Chapter 2 Season 7 for a single week during the Island Games Quests. Players who managed to complete 9 of these quests would be rewarded with this Pickaxe, and no Item Shop debut seems likely for this Pickaxe, which is now just for the veterans who completed the quest.

6 Plasma Carrot

Only Obtainable via Reboot a Friend Challenges in Chapter 2, Season 6

The Plasma Carrot was an exclusive Pickaxe, only available to those who played with a friend during Chapter 2 Season 6. In order to get this Pickaxe, players must play with someone on their friends list who hasn't played Fortnite in over 30 days, between April 6th and April 26th, 2021. Players who went into duos with these then-absent friends would be able to complete quests to earn this Pickaxe, which is now a relic.

5 Leviathan Axe

Kratos's Pickaxe From a Forgotten (But Desired) Collab

The Leviathan Axe was part of the God of War collab Fortnite had with PlayStation back in 2020, but it seems that almost 5 years have passed, and the Leviathan Axe is no closer to re-releasing in the Item Shop. Attached to Kratos, an immensely popular character, it's no wonder that this Pickaxe is so desired and rare, but that's not all. The Leviathan Axe has unique one-handed swinging animations that some even saw as faster than other Harvesting Tools, but the real reason it hasn't returned is most likely due to how Sony and Epic Games can't reach an agreement over the IP's licensing and value, meaning it's perhaps another cosmetic left gone, but not forgotten.

4 Throwback Axe

An OG and Free Pickaxe, Left Behind in 2021

An ode to the OGs, the Throwback Axe was added back into the game through the Item Shop, where players could grab this forgotten and classic Harvesting Tool to make up for the replacement of the default Pickaxe. Unfortunately, the Throwback Axe was meant for the veterans and OGs, as it was only available for a brief window between November 2020 and February 2021. While it was free at the time, the Throwback Axe has not returned to the Item Shop, showcasing its status as an OG item for those who remember the old Harvesting Tool.

3 Diamond Jack

Travis Scott's Exclusive Pickaxe

Travis Scott is one of the most iconic artists of the 21st century, and when Fortnite announced that he'd be doing an exclusive concert in-game, fans could celebrate not just through joining the concert, but purchasing Travis Scott himself and his cosmetics in the Item Shop. However, Travis Scott is known for his love of exclusivity and limited-time purchases, which is part of the reason that the Diamond Jack Pickaxe has not returned in over 5 years and will likely never return until Travis Scott wants it to. Even the CEO of Epic Games, Tim Sweeney, has made it clear that he has no control over Travis Scott returning, but he's welcome to return anytime.

2 Resonator

Purchasable Only Through the Xbox One Eon Bundle

The Resonator definitely looks rare with its unique design, but what really makes it rare is the necessity for real-world cash if players want this item. The Resonator Pickaxe can only be claimed by those who have purchased the Xbox One with the Eon Bundle set, which, at retail price, went for $249.99 back in September of 2018. These specific consoles sold out years ago, and now, if players want to even attempt to find a card that has this digital cosmetic, they are going to be paying out well over $900 just for a Pickaxe.

1 Pointer & Power Grip

Exclusive to Fortnite: China

Pointer & Power Grip are 2 exclusive Pickaxes that were only available to players in China. China once had its own version of Fortnite with its own servers and censorship changes, and as such, players could get different cosmetics and Pickaxes. The Pointer & Power Grip Pickaxes were part of this free addition for those in China to claim, but there was no way to bring them over to the main version of Fortnite. With Fortnite China shutting down servers on November 15, 2021, these are 2 Pickaxes that nobody will have, and nobody would have seen, making them the rarest of them all.
