The month of Ramadan has started, and Fortnite is celebrating this time with its fans by releasing special skins during the in-game Lantern Fest event. Fortnite has always been free-to-play, but there are still several ways for players to support the developers and the content creators whose livelihood depends on it. Except for Save the World purchases, most Fortnite in-game purchases are related to cosmetic items in the game. The Battle Pass and the Item Shop all feature dozens of cosmetics that are meant to get fans' attention.
There are certain times of the year that the Item Shop does particularly well, namely Halloween, Easter, and Christmas. Whenever one of these holidays comes around, Epic Games hosts a themed event alongside many of the festive and spooky skins that it has created over the years so that fans in the mood to celebrate can spend their V-Bucks and participate with their teammates. While Fortnite has tried its best to be inclusive in the past with several editions of the Lantern Fest event, there is no doubt that the game lacks representation of Middle Eastern culture.
Fortnite Leaks Avatar Event Skins and More Info
Fortnite leakers reveal additional details about the game's heavily rumored crossover event with Avatar: The Last Airbender.
However, players will be able to participate in this year's event by trying out the Lantern Fest Oasis, a Fortnite Creative Island, and attempting the various challenges it has to offer. On top of this, the new Radiant Moon cosmetic set will also become available at some point during the event; the set includes the Anwar and Noorah skins as well as the Lunar Lantern and the Moonlit Blades back blings. Islam Ibrahim, a former employee of Epic Games, expressed this thoughts on the cosmetic bundle.
When Is the Fortnite Lantern Festival?
- From March 10 at 12 PM ET until April 10 at 12 PM ET
Ibrahim mentioned that this was the last project he worked on before leaving the company. Even though he was mostly happy to see that the skins were being released, it was obvious that there was some discontent related to how much he had to insist in order to get the rest of the Fortnite team on board with this idea. However, he continued to persist and underline how important it was for there to be some Middle Eastern representation in Fortnite during the month of Ramadan. Now, fans will be able to enjoy these beautifully designed skins once they become available in the Item Shop. The release date remains unknown, but it has been confirmed that it will happen sometime before the end of the Lantern Fest event.
Throughout the next month, players can also expect to see SypherPK's skin hit the Item Shop once again. The popular Fortnite streamer has participated in this event before and was grateful to have the opportunity to be part of it once again.
