The past few weeks in December have certainly been busy for Epic Games' Fortnite. In the wake of the recent Star Wars event which ties into the new movie, the annual Christmas event, has finally arrived to ring in the holiday season. Players can participate in many Christmas-themed challenges, explore a snow-covered map, and open presents with many surprises in store.

Fortnite's Winterfest started on December 18th and will last until January 2nd. The celebration includes fourteen days of challenges, previously known as the 14 Days of Christmas, which will award a cosmetic item daily for up to two weeks. Furthermore, players can head to Winterfest Cabin via the tab in the main menu to open one present each day for a reward.

What's Inside Each Gift?

Players can pick whichever present they choose, with the exception of one big green box, to open daily until the cabin closes on January 7th, a few days after Winterfest has ended. Before opening a gift, they can also shake it in order to guess whether the sound inside matches what they want. However, for players that don't want to play a guessing game, there is a list of what gift is inside each present. Note that some presents contain multiple gifts, so it may take a few tries to obtain everything.

  1. Purple presents with blue ribbons: Peppermint Pickaxe or Merry Chipmas Music
  2. Golden presents with green ribbons: Shortbread Slicers or Holly & Divey Contrails
  3. Blue present with green ribbon: Well Wrapped Wrap
  4. Silver presents with blue ribbons: New Year 2020 Wrap or Treefall Glider
  5. Silver presents with yellow ribbons: Snow Shaker Emote or Loading Screen and Banner Icon
  6. Red present with yellow ribbon: Great Crackup Loading Screen and Banner Icon
  7. Silver present with red ribbon: The Sith Backbling

Where's the Skin?

But despite all these presents in Fortnite, why is the green box unable to be opened yet? According to data-mining, the Woolly Mammoth skin, one of two free skins that players can obtain during Winterfest, is inside the present. However, players won't be able to unwrap this gift until Christmas day to the end of Winterfest, so they have plenty of time to acquire all the other rewards. Additionally, the second skin, Ornament Soldier, will similarly become available for all come Christmas or later on in the event.

In the end, whether players are looking to grab as many gifts as possible or specific ones like the free skins, Winterfest is sure to be an enjoyable time for all. But for those that want a guaranteed reward right now, there is a gift-wrapped Millennium Falcon glider among the rest of the presents in the cabin.

Fortnite  is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and mobile devices.
